The Commemoration of the Faithful Departed

The church, since the 8th century AD, has set aside a day to remember the lives of the saints. Saints are all of us ordinary people who have been set apart for a special purpose. Today we not only remember those people whose lives have touched us so dearly in the past, but as a community of faith we commit ourselves to support each other in grief. On this Sunday in November, we pray for all who in the past year have grieved the loss of beloved family members.

In going over the announcement sheets for this year, we have especially prayed that God’s comfort be with these members as they mourn the death of family:

Ruth Anderson; Cal Berg; Cheryl Bipes - wife of Tom Bipes; Carol Bowser - sister of Kristi Grabow; Yogi Braet - father of Kathy Evans; James Bremer - Pam Dickson’s son’s father-in-law; Wilbur Butt - father of Darlene Bashaw; Wanda Coy - mother of Dottye and Todd Nichols; Ruth Cullen - sister of Emmy Cullen; Jean Dickson - mother-in-law of Pam Dickson; Rip Dilger - husband of Lorraine Dilger; Sherry Frank - wife of Don Frank; Ardie Honer - mother of Cheri Spitz; Ella Hueske - aunt of Diane Hoffmeister; Roberta Janshego - mother of Gary Janshego; Mickie Kerber - aunt of Bipes family; Dick Kieffer - husband of Lorraine Kieffer and father of Lana Zieglmeier; Antti Laaninen - uncle of Susan and Emma Striker; Gene Mallar - father of Heidi Berger; Edith Marti - mother of Susan Collins; Dale Mathewson - cousin of Sue Jones; Nancy Maynard - mother of Kim Simpson; Wayne McKendry; Melvin Meinzer - uncle of Stacy Miller; Alfred Nichols - father of Todd and Dottye Nichols; Alec Oesterling - father of Abby and Jaime Oesterling; Dorothy Schrom; Thomas Sharp - uncle of Bob Williams; Lawrence Shaw - father of Alan Shaw; Shelby Kathryn Tharp - granddaughter of Kay Tharp; Samuel Morris Ward - father of Linda Ward; Sue Webster - wife of Bill Webster; Don Wilcox - father of Ellen Richter; Jennifer Witte - niece of Tom and Cheryl Bipes; Janet Reck Wunderlich - mother of Jenny Kolb; Marie - mother of Bernice Sonstroem and Hagedorn family’s son-in-law.

Stephen Ministers are so excited about our 20th anniversary of serving the congregation

of Resurrection Lutheran!

We will be hosting an Information Session on November 10 at Noon in Room 151. Come on by and find out more about what we do, who we are, and how you can be part of this caring ministry. Learn more about classes that are starting January 5, 2020 here at RLC.

Hope to see you on November 10th!

Today we celebrate the Festival of All Saints and the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed. This is a celebration and remembrance of the people of God who have gone before us: fighting the good fight of faith, running the race, and finishing the course; and who now rest from their labors. We remember that we are joining in the song that is already being sung eternally in the presence of God. In the midst of this dying, fallen world we sing… and the Song is ‘Victory’ - His Victory made ours in Christ.

It is with great sadness and in Christian love and hope that we announce that our brother in Christ, Rev. Charles A. Brehmer, was called to rest with Jesus on October 30.

Our prayers are with his daughter, Juli Blanke, and their family at this time.

The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. – Psalm 126:3 Heavenly Father, we marvel at Your goodness over us! Thank You for a Love that knows no end, for Joy unending in Your Presence, for Hope in times of trial, and for the daily washing of Your refreshing Grace. Guide us in the dreams You have for our congregation and breathe fresh upon us as we eagerly await Pastor Blanke and Juli’s arrival. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.

Nursery for Infants and Toddlers Nursery is available in Room 115 of the Preschool wing. Sign your child in with adult nursery attendant.

Due to children with food allergies, no food or snacks will be allowed in the nursery on Sundays. Worshipping with Small Children Quiet activity bags, books, and worksheets are located in the Narthex and at the children’s table in the lobby of the Family Life Center.

Children are welcome in all of our worship services! God loves the little children, and so do we! If there is ever a time that you feel your child needs a break, please feel free to use the nursery, Room 115 of the Preschool wing, during Sanctuary services and Room 151 in the Family Life Center during the Praise service.

Children's Church for ages 3-6, is held weekly during the 10:45 worship service.

Children are dismissed before the sermon for 20 minutes to gather together for a short lesson or story about the theme of the day. They will work on a craft and/or sing a song that matches the story. This time will help them grow their faith.

Questions you may have regarding any of these programs or events can be directed to the Co-Directors of Children and Family Ministry, [email protected] or [email protected].

Third Grade Families If you were not able to attend the service on October 27 for your child to receive their Bible, please contact MaryAnn at [email protected].

WNW Confirmation Classes The last fall class is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20. We hope to see all families worshipping together during the three Advent services in December. Winter/Spring classes will resume on Wednesday, January 8.

Children and Youth Christmas Program

The 3:00 service on Christmas Eve will be the Children and Youth Christmas Program. It is called, "Love Came Down at Christmas."

Mr. Unger has started working on the music with the kids on Wednesdays in the Choir Room at the back of Fellowship Hall. They meet from 5:00-5:30 pm. There will also be some additional opportunities to practice during Sunday School classes leading up to Christmas Eve. The songs are familiar Christmas Carols and Hymns. We also have speaking parts for those that are interested. Please contact MaryAnn Unger with questions or for more information. We will have a couple of rehearsals on Saturdays or Sundays - dates and time are still being confirmed.

We would appreciate help with costumes, simple stage setting, and decorations.
