Bree Bueno PRE 101 Howard Graham
Capstone Wellness Project
When signing up for my Fall 2012 semester of my freshmen year of college at
The University of Kansas, I was unsure of what major I wanted to study. I began
taking my general education courses, which were math, English, science, and some
elective courses such as PRE 101. My advisor suggested that since I didn’t know
where to began my journey that by taking this course would guide me in a step
closer of the field I would find interesting. Luckily the instructor of this course
helped me learn more about myself as well as helped me find a path towards my
future. This course definitely helped make my freshmen year easier in adjusting to a
large University and not only being taught the course but as well as important
aspects that I will need throughout the next four years in college.
Throughout the class we learned different values in different subjects as we
got to explore a large variety of schools and arts. This class got to do many projects
that helped us learn more about ourselves. The Art Minute project is where we got
to pick a meaningful piece of art displayed in the Spencer Art Museum on campus
and we got to share and explain the meaning behind the art. I found a piece that
stuck out to me. It was called the Thread Man, which allowed me explore art in a
way I never did. This was a new experience for me that I enjoyed learning in class
because I got to say whatever my mind thought of the art to the class as someone
else who could of observed this might of thought of something different. I learned

that not everyone thinks the same way, which makes me different from everyone in
the class as I got to observe others perspectives in art.
Our instructor assigned us to take a Strengths Quest quiz that would help us
determine our signature themes. My quiz results stated that my five top signature
themes were empathy, adaptability, consistency, restorative, and developer. I found
that this quiz would be correct, as my number one signature theme was empathy,
which I could find to be reasonable. I get the energy from the people around me,
which would make sense that I can sense the emotions of those around me. I found
this quiz helpful in learning more about who I am as a person and what strengths
and weakness I have. Now that I know my five top strengths I will use this to help
me become a better person in society as well as help me get the job of my dreams.
By identifying myself with these five traits, I will use them as strengths to help me in
the real world when it comes to finding a job, partner, and making a life for myself.
Now that the second semester has come to an end as the summer heat comes,
it is now time for me to set a limit for myself for the next semester of my sophomore
year. I am currently enrolled for the Fall 2013 semester and signed up for PRE 210,
which my advisor recommended me taking. This class is the next step in helping me
choose the degree as well as start my resume which is one of my goals for my
second year of study. Another goal of mine is to pick a field of study and getting a
degree, which will help me by taking PRE 210. One big goal of mine is to end the
semester with a GPA of 3.5, which is manageable but will take work in order to
accomplish. By achieving these goals it will help me figure out what I want to do
with my life after graduating college. These three goals are not hard to accomplish

but will require my hard work in becoming a successful person that I dream of one
day.
