Pre-Greek Physiology

• Early Stone Age cave paintings(about 30,000 years ago) show simple knowledge of anatomy of animals.

• Cave dwellers applied knowledge of animals’ anatomy on their own bodies.

• Anatomical animal dissections to tell futures and fortunes

Hippocrates

• Nicknamed “Father of Medicine”

• Hippocrates the discoverer of medicine as “a rational science.”

• His major contribution invention of prognosis • looking at the symptoms, comparing them, able to

evaluate the illness
