Our qualified medical school applicants boast an acceptance rate of 81 percent, versus the national average of 45 percent. The Association of American Medical Colleges defines a qualified applicant as someone with a 27 on the old MCAT and a 3.4 GPA in the sciences. CHOOSE A MAJOR The most popular major choice of Hiram pre-med students is biomedical humanities because the curriculum encompasses medical and research experi- ence, ethics and humanities courses and community service. These are things medical schools look for beyond grades and test scores. However, students have succeeded in and been accepted to medical school after majoring in any science discipline – and a range of non-sciecne disciplines, too.
