Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression

from it to the full product?

Page 2: Preliminary

Looking back at my preliminary task I feel I have learnt a lot and developed my skills a significant amount. Looking at the difference between my preliminary and final draft you can clearly see a district increase in standard, content and technical qualities, as I had a wider knowledge of Photoshop it was a lot easier to improve my final product.

Page 3: Preliminary

As you can see in my preliminary task the style is very unsophisticated, and the writing is just randomly placed on the page. Also I was missing important thing, for example on my front cover I was missing things like barcodes and emails, which are now added in. So now as I have better Photoshop skills and have researched magazines more I have been able to make my magazine look more professional by laying it out better and adding in all the details that would be on a magazine.

Added barcode

Email address

Title in a better place.

Better quality photo

Used more convention e.g. pulled quote.

When designing my front page, content page and double page spread I used the knowledge I have now learnt from other magazines codes and conventions, which has improved the overall quality of my magazine as it now looks more professional. So as I added more quality's which are normally seen in magazines so it looked more professional e.g. title at the top, studio taken photo’s and writing layed out better, and as I now have a focus group I have been able to ask them what they like which means it will be more reliable because they are them same age and gender as my focus group.

Studio taken photo Writing layed

out better.

More conventions e.g. the “B” representing BEAT

I have also learn to plan better, so I knew the picture was the most important part now because it draws in the most attention so I made sure I got that right first. I had also learnt that the title was also important so I did that second and then added in the other details afterwards, and as I now have my focus group I could ask them as they represent my target group and they could tell me if I did anything I didn’t like.
