1 EYFS HELEN FAWCETT, Head of EYFS, Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) with Honours from Chester University, PGCE in special Educational Needs from Wolverhampton University and PGCE in Middle Management from Buckingham University Helen has taught at Sherborne Qatar Prep School for 4 years and has been Head of EYFS for 3 years. Helen previously taught at Lister Primary School in Bradford and enjoyed teaching in Reception and Year 1. Helen was also the Special Needs Coordinator and part of the senior management team. She has also taught at Queen Ethelburga’s College in York, and spent 2 years teaching in the UAE. Helen enjoys tennis, swimming and skiing and is a keen netball player. She is also interested in travelling and outdoor activities. DEBBIE EITE, Reception Form Teacher BA, PGCE Debbie Eite joined Sherborne Qatar in 2014 and this will be her third year teaching a reception class. She previously taught at two primary schools in Staffordshire, mainly in Early Years. Debbie graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a BA Honours in English and Publishing. She worked for ten years as a journalist and public relations manager, before starting a family, and then completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at Birmingham City University. Debbie’s two sons are in years 5 and 9 and the whole family love rugby - the boys play rugby at Doha Rugby Club and her husband coaches the under-10 team. KATHRYN MILLS, Reception Form Teacher BA (Hons), PGCE Kathryn joined Sherborne Qatar in 2014 having taught in North Nottinghamshire since 1999. JENNIFER SKELDON, Pre School Form TeacherBA (Hons) Durham University; PGCE Manchester Metropolitan UniversityJennifer joined Sherborne Qatar in 2013 having taught Pre-School for 4 years at Altrincam Prep School in Chesire. She previously taught Years 3 and 4 at King’s Junior School in Chester where she was a Science specialist. Jennifer is married with 2 young boys and twin girls. She enjoys spending time with family, travelling, keeping fi t and reading.

REBECCA LITTLEWOOD, Reception Form TeacherPGCE , Bath Spa University Becky has taught in both independent and state schools throughout Bristol and Bath. She has taught Years 1 and 2 for the majority of her teaching career but, most recently, she has been teaching Year 3 at St Martin’s Garden Primary School in Bath. She is a keen runner, enjoys competing in races and is building up to running her fi rst marathon. Becky also enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

NATALIE SAVILLE, Pre School Form Teacher BA (Hons) Education Bradford UniversityNatalie joined Sherborne Qatar in 2011 as a newly qualifi ed teacher and spent two years teaching Reception before moving to Year 2. Her interests include spending time with her family, travelling, keeping fi t and baking.

EVELYN BIGGINS, Pre School Form TeacherPGCE, University of SunderlandEvelyn worked in Business and IT for fi ve years before becoming a teacher. She has been teaching in Qatar since her move here in 2008. She was one of the founding members of the Qatar’s Ladies GAA team but since hanging up her boots her hobbies have included swimming, reading and travelling. Evelyn is married with one daughter.

SARAH REED, Pre-School Form TeacherEnglish Literature BA (Hons) Canterbury Christ Church University, PGCESarah completed a degree in early childhood studies and English literature at Canterbury Christ church university and then worked as a teaching assistant in a nursery school for a year before completing her PGCE and working as a year 2 teacher at Herne Bay Infant school in Kent. She then took a break to have her daughter and completed training to work alongside lactation consultants and health visitors supporting new mothers with feeding their babies. She enjoys reading, badminton, baking and spending time with her two children and her husband.

YEAR 1BETHAN WALKER, Year 1 Form Teacher and Leader of Year 1BA (Hons) Education Studies; PGCE Cumbria University Bethan joined Sherborne Qatar in 2013 and previously taught Year 4 at Oaklands Community Primary School in Yeovil. She is a very keen sportswoman and enjoys keeping fit, snowboarding and playing netball. She also enjoys reading and textile making.

BETHANY FREEMAN, Year 1 Form TeacherBA (Hons) History, University of East Anglia; GTP at Canterbury Christchurch University Bethany joined Sherborne Qatar in 2014 and previously taught at Eastling Primary School in Kent. Whilst studying she was fortunate enough to work in a wide range of schools from Forest Schools to SEN schools. In England, Bethany enjoyed great success in competitive Ballroom and Latin dancing. Bethany runs Rainbows Club after school. She likes baking, travelling and looking after animals.

MICHELLE FLEMING, Year 1 Form TeacherBSc Law & Government, London School of Economics, Part 1 LLM University of London, PGCE Primary (specialism Maths) Christchurch University, Canterbury.Michelle worked in International Law Enforcement for 12 years, before retraining as a Primary School teacher after the birth of her three sons. She joined Sherborne Qatar in 2014 as a Pre-School teacher, having spent several years teaching throughout the Foundation Stage and Key Stages 1 and 2 in an Outstanding primary school in Greater London. A former county swimmer and synchronized swimming coach for many years, she still loves keeping fit, as well as spending time with her young family and is an avid reader.

ASHLEIGH DOBINSON, Year 1 Form TeacherMasters of Arts in Education with Honours, The University of Aberdeen Ashleigh has completed her NQT year in Scotland at Aberlour Primary School teaching a Primary 2 (Year 2) class. In her spare time she goes to the gym regularly and enjoys an active lifestyle. She is a Black Belt and instructor in Tae Kwon-Do, plays ladies football and loves going horse riding.

YEAR 2KERI HUGHES, Leader of Year 2 BSc in Social Psychology from Loughborough University, PGCE from Newman UniversityKeri has been teaching for four years with three years in Year 2 and one year in Year 1. For the last two years she also been responsible SEN Teaching and she has worked closely with the school’s SENCo. In her spare time she loves to read and go running.

FRANCESCA NEWELL, Year 2 Form TeacherBA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS from Canterbury Christ Church University Francesca has spent her NQT year teaching Year 1 at Stanwellfi elds Primary School. She enjoys dancing in many styles and has taught child and adult classes. Francesca enjoys the theatre, traveling and paddle boarding. She loves to spend time with her family and friends in Surrey.

MOLLY METCALF, Year 2 Form Teacher, House Leader for Irons and World Studies CoordinatorBA (Hons) Cantebury Christ Church UniversityMolly grew up in Suffolk moving to Canterbury where she completed her degree at Canterbury Christ Church University in June 2014. She took her fi rst teaching post at Sherborne Qatar that August to complete her NQT year. Molly is a keen sailor and skier, who also enjoys spending her free time with her friends and family.

SINEAD GRENNAN, Year 2 Form Teacher B.Ed. (Hons), University of Edinburgh MPhil Primary Education, University of Cambridge Sinead is originally from Ireland and moved to Scotland to when she fi nished school to train as a primary teacher. She completed her probation year with a Year 5 class in Edinburgh and then taught in Year 1 before moving to Cambridge to complete a Masters. She has spent the last year teaching all year groups in a variety of primary schools across Cambridge whilst also spending time in a special school to complete her research. Sinead loves to travel and has been fortunate enough to spend some time teaching in Tanzania. She enjoys running and will be completing her second half marathon this year in aid of a Tanzanian primary school.

YEAR 3PHILIP REED, Leader of Year 3 and Qatari History CoordinatorBA (Hons) Primary Education, Canterbury Christ Church UniversitySince completing a three year teaching degree at Canterbury Christ Church University, Philip has been teaching at Lorenden Prep School, Faversham in Kent where he has taught Year Six and led pastoral care throughout the school. He enjoys playing a wide range of sports including rugby, hockey and badminton. Having previously coached tennis for several years he still enjoys regular matches as well as coaching when his timetable allows. Philip and his wife Sarah have two young children and as a family they enjoy days out exploring and outdoor activities.

JENNY ARMSTRONG, Year 3 Form Teacher BA (Hons) Key Stage 2/3 Education with QTS, Edge Hill UniversityJenny completed a range of placements in nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools during her training and she has taught Years 2 and 3 at a primary school in Qatar for the past 2 years. She has volunteered at schools in the Fiji Islands and taught English to children in Madrid. In her spare time she loves travelling, going to the gym and seeing friends and family.

ORLA MCGOWAN, Year 3 Form TeacherB.Ed (Hons) Saint Patrick’s College, DublinOrla has nine years teaching experience. She spent three years teaching at Holy Child B.N.S, Dublin and six years teaching in St. Johns N.S, Sligo. She has taught classes in Key stages 1, 2 and 3. Orla has been teaching key Stage 1 for the past three years.She enjoys running, GAA, cycling, tag rugby and swimming. She loves to travel, listen to music and spend time with her family and friends.

GAIL WILLIAMS, Year 3 Form Teacher, Senior House Leader, Liaison with Sherborne Prep School, DorsetBA Education (Hons) Exeter UniversityGail taught at Clayesmore Preparatory School in Dorset and Norman Court Preparatory School, Salisbury in both Reception and Year 2 until joining Sherborne Qatar when the school opened in 2009. She has a wide experience of library work, Brownies, school musicals and is a keen cook, singer and craft worker. She is married to Richard and mother of Rachael and Christopher.

YEAR 4KRIS SAVILLE, Year 4 Form Teacher and Leader of Year 4BA (Hons) Bradford University; GTP Manchester UniversityAfter a career as a portrait photographer, Kris completed a degree in Early Childhood Studies. He then spent several years working with children aged between 3 and 18. He completed the Graduate Teacher Programme at Manchester Metropolitan University. His interests include photography, playing the guitar, football and most of all spending time with his wife Natalie and his two children.

JADE POOLEY, Year 4 Form Teacher , CPD coordinator & House Leader for JassimBSc (Hons) Geography Reading University; PGCE Canterbury Christchurch UniversityJade studied Geography at University and following her PGCE she taught for 4 years at Swalecliffe Primary School in Kent. She joined Sherborne Qatar in 2013 and her interests include running, walking and travelling the world.

LEANNE WOOD, Year 4 Form TeacherBA (Hons) Performance, Drama and Theatre Studies, Aberystwyth University, PGCE, Canterbury Christchurch University and SCITT, TKAT AcademiesLeanne studied Performance, Drama and Theatre Studies at University and following her PGCE and School Centred Initial Teacher Training has worked at both Salmestone Primary School and Garlinge Primary School and Nursey in Kent. In her free time Leanne enjoys travelling, keeping fi t and spending time with family and friends.

KELLY MCMULLEN, Year 4 Form Teacher & Art Coordinator BEd (Hons) in Primary Education, Glasgow University Kelly joined Sherborne Qatar in September 2014. She is from Airdrie in Scotland. She completed her probationary year teaching Year 3 in a primary school near Airdrie. In her free time, Kelly enjoys keeping fi t and spending time with friends and family.

YEAR 5JO GOUGH, Year 5 Form Teacher and Leader of Year 5BA Education (Hons) Exeter UniversityJo was based in East Sussex for 20 years before moving to Doha, most recently at Moira House School in Eastbourne where she taught Years 3 to 6 and specialised in Drama and ICT. She has been with Sherborne Qatar since moving here in 2013. She loves travel and exploring new places. She is married to Simon Gough (Director of Sport and PE) and has two teenage sons. Whilst teaching in Eastbourne they were also House Parents at St Bede’s School, Upper Dicker, with a boarding house of 90 students!

LEE MCGARRIGAL, Year 5 Form Teacher and Head of MathsBSc (Sport) Sheffi eld University; GTP Goldsmiths College, London University Lee holds a degree in Sports Management from Sheffi eld University, a Post Graduate Diploma from Manchester University and a GTP from Goldsmiths College, University of London. Previously he taught at Steward Fleming Primary School, Anerley, South London and, before that, worked as a Web Developer and Marketing Manager.

LUKE BENNETT, Year 5 Form TeacherBSc in Sport Science, The University of Gloucestershire, PGCE Bath Spa UniversityLuke has spent the last three years teaching at Courtney Primary School in Bristol, England. During his time there he trained in KS1 for a year and taught in Year 5 for two years. In addition to the everyday teaching responsibilities Luke was also the subject leader for Physical Education. Prior to starting his PGCE he spent some time travelling and working abroad. When he is not teaching Luke has a passion for sport, particularly football, and enjoys exercising and cooking in order to keep healthy.

KIM MCMAHON,Year 5 Form TeacherBA (hons) in Landscape Architecture from The University of Greenwich, PGCE from Sunderland UniversityKim worked as a Landscape Architect before retraining as a teacher. She joined Sherborne Qatar in 2011 and during that time has performed various teaching roles throughout the school, including Year 1 Form Teacher, Intervention Teacher and Relief Form Teacher. Kim’s enjoys Pilates, singing, knitting and crochet.

YEAR 6KAREN LASHLEY, Year 6 Form Teacher & Leader of Year 6BA (Hons) in Humanities from Trinity College, Carmarthen. PGCE University of WalesKaren has taught in Ruislip in London, Bricket Wood in Hertfordshire, the Forest of Dean in Wales and, most recently, for a number of years at Redland High School in Bristol. She has taught all year groups in both Key Stage 1 and 2. Her interests include reading, the cinema, travelling, cycling, and swimming. Being Welsh, she loves rugby!

OLLIE LITTLEWOOD, Year 6 Form Teacher and Assessment CoordinatorBA History & PGCE , Bath Spa UniversityOllie taught Year 6 and other KS2 classes in schools in Bristol for 4 years and before that was teaching in schools in and around Bath. Outside school Ollie is a keen footballer – both player and supporter – and enjoys watching sport with his family. His main sporting passion lies in swimming where he has been a regular member of his local swimming club for 20 years and has competed at national level. Ollie also enjoys going to the cinema, travelling and most importantly spending time with his wife Becky and the rest of his family and friends

AFI AHMED, Year 6 Form TeacherBSc Kingston University; GTP Middlesex UniversityAfter completing her degree in Chemistry with Micro Electronics and Computing, Afi had a career in corporate banking working in Canary Wharf, before embarking on a career in teaching. She has been at Sherborne Qatar for fi ve years. She is married, has three sons, and enjoys, painting, listening to a variety of music and has a keen interest in fashion.

CLAIRE MORAN, Year 6 Form TeacherB.Ed (Hons), University of Glasgow After graduating in 2013 Claire was given a post as Primary 3 (Year 2) class teacher in St Mary’s Primary School in Bathgate, Scotland. She then taught Primary 7 (Year 6) for the following two years in the same school and enjoyed the new challenge. She has danced since the age of 3 and at the age 16 became a qualifi ed dance teacher in several disciplines through the British Association of Teachers of Dancing. Claire works with her local dance school in Linlithgow, Scotland, and had the amazing opportunity of representing her school and Scotland at an international dance festival in Los Angeles in 2005, 2006, and 2013. Other interests include going to the cinema, keeping fi t, and spending time visiting family in Liverpool.

LANGUAGESBASSAM DABHOUR, Director of Arabic and Islamic StudiesBachelor Arabic Language, Qatar UniversityBassam has 27 years’ experience teaching Arabic studies in Doha, at both primary and senior levels. He also teaches adult students Arabic and Islamic studies. Bassam has worked with the SEC to set examination standards for Arabic. Outside school, he enjoys swimming, football, reading, and is very interested in world news.

SAMIA ABO NAHIA, Arabic TeacherBA Arabic Language, Qatar University Samia worked as an Arabic teacher for 6 years at Gulf English School in Doha and has worked at Sherborne Qatar Prep School for 5 years. She also studied for her Baccalaureate (ICDL) from New Horizon Centre.

RAGHDA ADNAN, Arabic TeacherBA English Language, Bagdad University My name is Raghda Adnan. I am from Iraq. I have BA in English language from Baghdad University. I worked in Iraq as a teacher for secondary school and I was a private teacher for three years. I have been in Qatar for fi ve years. I worked in Edison international school and in Al Kaleej Al Araby Independent School.

SUZAN SAADA, Subject Leader for KS1 & 2 Arabic and Islamic StudiesHigher Diploma in Primary Education Al-Balga University Jordan, PGCE Suzan has many years’ experience in the Middle East teaching reception and Arabic language. She has worked in Qatar at Qatar International School and Al-Wajbah Independent school. Her interests include reading, watching fi lms, cooking and arts & crafts.

NADIA SULAIMAN, Year 1-6 French TeacherBA in French University of Baghdad, Teacher Training Certifi cate University de Savoire, ChamberyNadia has been in Doha for a number of years and before joining Sherborne Qatar she taught at Compass International School and Al Jazeera Academy. Before that she taught for a number of years at ACS International School, Egham, Surrey. A Gulf lady in origin she spent much of her childhood in France and she has also lived in London.

Outside school she enjoys playing sports, particularly football and badminton. Joy has moved to Doha with her husband Andrew, who works as a Civil Engineer.

CARA PALFREY, Learning Intervention TeacherBEd in Primary Education, University of BedfordshireCara has worked at South End Infants School in Rushden, UK for the past 4 years where she has been a Year 1 Teacher. Cara is a keen dancer, and enjoys playing the piano and keyboard in her spare time. Her other interests include swimming, cycling and going to the theatre.

SAMIA QUDDUS, Learning Intervention TeacherBA (Hons) in Primary Education, Middlesex University; CELTA, Oxford House College, London; Foundation Course in Counselling Skills for Work-ing with Children.After graduating, Samia taught at Eversley Primary School in North London. After obtaining eight years teaching experience in London schools, she married and moved to Doha in 2012. Samia has a keen interest in initiatives that support children in academically challenging situations and is currently involved with the work of UK art therapy charities. She enjoys travelling and many outdoor activities, in particular clay pigeon shooting.

PE AND GAMESALISTAIR PALFREY, Head Of PE and Games BSc (Hons) in Sport & Exercise Science, University of BedfordshireAfter a year as a Teaching Assistant Alistair trained at The East Northamptonshire Initial Teacher Training College in Secondary PE and qualified as a Teacher in 2011. Alistair has previously worked at the Weavers Academy in Northamptonshire, teaching PE and ICT. His interests include cycling and he has cycled from London to Brighton three times in aid of the British Heart Foundation. He also enjoys watching and participating in a variety of sports.

ROBERT SKELDON, PE & Games Teacher; House Leader for Sheppard and Activities CoordinatorBA (Hons) Sport and Business Management, Manchester Metropolitan University HND Sports ScienceRob worked for Tameside Council for 13 years in the Sports Development Department, working with many Primary and Senior schools in the region. He was also involved in projects to increase children’s participation in sport. Rob is passionate about Rugby, Football and Cricket and loves spending time with his family and going on adventures. He joined Sherborne in 2013.

SASKIA GUNSON, PE and Games TeacherBSc (Hons) Sports Development, University of Portsmouth Saskia joined Sherborne Qatar in September 2014 having undertaken her Primary PGCE at Canterbury Christ Church University. She took her Primary PGCE year teaching at a school near Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Her interests include playing the piano, cooking, travelling and sports, especially netball and running.

MUSICRAZWAN SARWAR, Head of MusicBA (Hons) Combined Business Marketing, Huddersfield University; PGCE in Business Studies with Citizenship Enhancement with QTS, Huddersfield University; National Diploma in Popular Music, Oldham College; BTEC in Classical Asian Music, Rochdale For the past five years Razwan has been the Head of Music at a school in Halifax where he has been teaching, conducting and leading Music in KS1 and KS2. His experiences have included conducting a 650 piece ensemble at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Razwan’s main instrument is the piano but he also plays various percussion instruments. Previously he has been an Arts Officer and a lecturer in Business Studies. Razwan’s interests include travelling, sports and food. Razwan is looking forward in teaching and sharing his experiences at Sherborne Qatar Prep School.

SENCOELIZABETH PETERS, SENCOBSc (Hons) Primary Geography Early Years QTS from the University of the West of England.Lizzie taught Years 1 and 2 at Shillingstone Primary School in Dorset for three years where she was Acting Deputy Head as well as English, Maths and PE Co-ordinator. Before that she was Deputy Head at Grateley Primary School in Hampshire for 7 years. Whilst there, Lizzie established an Early Years Unit and worked with the Early Years Team for Hampshire, advising on best practice. Lizzie is married and has three cats. In 2015 she finished the London Marathon and is keen to keep up her running. She also plays the oboe and is hoping that she will be able to join an orchestra in Doha.
