Preparing for the
Holiday Season
If you are heading out of town for an extended period don’t forget to:
(1) Tell the Harbourside Office how long you'll be away for. It is
important to give the Office a heads-up when you are leaving
town including leaving contact details for any ur-
gent matters.
(2) Lock up—it's all too easy to forget to secure all of
those less frequently used windows and doors in the
rush to get away.
(3) Arrange for someone to collect your mail and
suspend any newspaper deliveries.
(4) Have a GREAT trip!
If you are planning to have friends or family come and stay with you for
more than 2 weeks don’t forget to contact the Harbourside Office for ap-
proval, providing details about who is staying, their car registration and
for how long.
November 2017 Edition
Page 2 Harbourside Haven Villages November 2017
Due to staff shortages, leave and illness, our maintenance team got a little behind with our mowing schedule over the past 4 weeks. In response to feedback from residents, we updated our rosters / schedule to try to address this as quickly as possible. We have now completed the spraying and mowing tasks and are up to date. If you have any fur-ther questions or concerns about this, please feel free to lodge a maintenance form or contact maintenance on
1800 960 900
Reminder about the correct number to ring for SNAKES. It is 000 and they will contact the local fire brigade as they have trained handlers
UPDATE FROM MAINTENANCE TEAM
UPDATE FROM RETIREMENT LIVING TEAM
The Harbourside Recreation Centre is about to be repainted on the inside including the library, the hall, the entrance and the kitchen. The work will commence on
Tuesday, 5th December and is expected to be completed by Tuesday 12th Decem-ber. Please note that whilst the Recreation Centre will be closed during this peri-od, the pool will still be open.
Thank you to all residents who returned their notes with details of their email ad-
dress and mobile numbers. We have already started to email those residents who opted to receive email communications and publications for example Villa Altera-tion Forms and the Village Voice.
We are in the process of updating the signage for the Harbourside Haven carports. As part of the process we are requesting residents to provide their current car regis-tration, villa number and parking spot. We are hoping to improve the current sign-age and also attempt to review carport allocations to ensure resident allocations are
close to their villas.
Work has commenced this week on the new Salamander development and is ex-pected to be completed in 18 months from now.
Don’t forget you can now contact us via email for any village related issues or to submit Villa Alteration Forms etc

thanks to those who have already returned them. Anyone booking transport, Eliza-beth will be in touch to arrange times for pickup.

Welcome to our new residents Horst and Karin Gunkel in Villa 120A.
Bernie Thompson residents now have their own library. It is situated in the old

Thanks to Rod Ryder for building the book shelves. Thanks also to Kristie Murphy and
Harbourside for helping greatly with renova-tions of the Shed. A new sliding glass door en-trance had been installed in the shed which is
open all day for access to facilities and the li-brary.
Thanks also to Kevin Pringle for the donation of a brand new Breville Toast & Melt sandwich maker.
Thursday afternoon Happy Hour is still going strong. It now starts at 4.00 p.m. now that daylight saving is with us. Everybody is welcome.
The last Thursday of the month is a sausage siz-
zle and at least once a month we have a trivia competition with small prizes for the winners.

A J-J-JOKE TO FINISH UP WITH
After the last race, a fellow who stuttered badly walked up to a bookmaker who had had a win-
ning day. “Excuse me, I b-b-b-backed a five t-t-t-...”
The bookie was sharp. “There was no five to one winner mate, get lost”
The fellow persisted, “I b-b-b-backe a f-f-five t-t-”
“Look” said the bookie I’ve had a good day, here’s fifty dollars, now go away”
The chap took the money and went over to his friend and said “That bookie is a nice bloke. I
tried to tell him I’d backed a five ton truck into his Rolls Royce and he gave me fifty dollars”.
