We use Present Continuous to talk about :

-Actions that are happening now.Example:-What are you doing? We are watching a horror film.

-Actions that are happening at present, but not necessarily at this moment.Example:- I am studying English at the University this year.

StructureAffirmative:-Subject + Verb to be in Present + Verb-ing+ Complement.

I = am + Verb-ing.Example: I am playing.

You, we and they = are + Verb-ing.Example:They are playing.

He, she, it = is + Verb-ing.

Example:She is playing.

We use the Present Perfect Continuous to talk about present situations that started in the past and continue in the present. Example:

We use for and since with the Present Perfect Continuous:

For is used with a period of time or length of time. Example:

How long have they been studying English?- They have been studying English for three months.

Since is used with a specific point in time. Example:

How long has he been working there?- He has been working there since 2009.
