IMED Hospitales es un grupo nacido para
desarrollar, tanto en propiedad como en gestión, una
red de hospitales de la máxima calidad asistencial.
El origen del grupo se encuentra en el Hospital de
Levante, situado en Benidorm, que abrió sus puertas
en el año 2.004.
En base a la experiencia adquirida y en el modelo de
negocio implantado con éxito en los últimos años, se
extendió el modelo de prestación de servicios a otras
áreas, tales como Teulada, Elche, Valencia y Murcia
(estos dos últimos centros se abrirán próximamente).
Actualmente, IMED Hospitales cuenta con más
de 500 trabajadores y más de 200 colaboradores
médicos.
El proyecto de IMED Hospitales se sustenta sobre 3
pilares fundamentales:
• Una asistencia sanitaria personalizada y con los
máximos estándares de calidad.
• La apuesta decidida por crear centros hospitalarios
con las mejores instalaciones y tecnología médica
de vanguardia.
• Un equipo médico de primer nivel, formado por
profesionales propios y por facultativos externos.

El Hospital Privado IMED Levante es un centro
hospitalario privado que ofrece asistencia sanitaria
multidisciplinar. El principal objetivo del Hospital IMED
Levante es procurar una asistencia sanitaria de calidad,
orientada a satisfacer a aquellos pacientes que decidan
la utilización de nuestros distintos servicios. La dotación
tecnológica y humana del Hospital nos permite ofertar
una asistencia sanitaria integral de forma rápida y ágil.
El proyecto se inició en 1999 cuando un grupo de
empresarios locales decidieron, ante el aumento de
la demanda de servicios medico-hospitalarios en el
área, la construcción y puesta en funcionamiento del
Hospital de Levante. Tres años más tarde, en 2002, se
iniciaron las obras de construcción, que se ejecutaron
en un plazo de 30 meses.
Además de IMED Levante, el grupo IMED cuenta con
la policlínica IMED Teulada y el Hospital IMED Elche. En
los próximos años el grupo seguirá creciendo con los
nuevos hospitales de Valencia y Murcia..
Situación
El Hospital de IMED Levante está situado en la Ciudad
de Benidorm, en la zona del Rincón de Loix y a escasa
distancia del Centro de la Ciudad, junto a los grandes
complejos hoteleros de nueva planta. Dispone de
excelentes accesos desde la autopista y los municipios
situados a nuestro alrededor.
Introduction 7
IMED Levante is a private hospital providing
multidisciplinary health care. The main objective of
Hospital de Levante is to offer high quality health care
to satisfy the needs and requirements of those patients
who opt to use its services. The incorporation of modern
technology and resources will ensure that the Hospital
offers comprehensive health care quickly and efficiently.
The project began in 1999 when a group of local
businessmen decided to invest in a new hospital due to
the growing demand for further private medical health
care in the area. Construction of the Hospital began in
2002, and was completed 30 months later.
Besides IMED Levante, IMED group has IMED Teulada
polyclinic and IMED Elche hospital. In the coming years
the group will continue to grow with new hospitals in
Valencia and Murcia.
Location
IMED Levante Hospital is situated in Benidorm, in
the Rincon de Loix area, close to the city centre and
within the immediate vicinity of all the major Hotels.
It has excellent access from the motorway and
surrounding districts.

El Edificio del Hospital dispone de unos 18.000 m2 que se
distribuyen en sótano, semisótano, planta baja y seis plantas
en altura. El hospital dispone de 6 ascensores; uno de ellos
exterior panorámico, dos destinados a montacamas, uno
de servicio y el resto para utilización general.
El acceso general al Hospital se realiza por el vestíbulo
principal, en la planta baja, donde se sitúan admisión,
atención al usuario, área de administración y dirección,
cafetería, Servicio de Oftalmología, Servicio de Pediatría,
Instituto Dermoestético, Medicina Reproductiva y el
Instituto Ginecológico de Levante.
En la planta semisótano se sitúa el Servicio de Urgencias,
con área de urgencias pediátricas separada. El Servicio
de Urgencias cuenta con un acceso independiente para
pacientes que acudan por sus propios medios y otro para
ambulancias. En el semisotano se encuentra también el
Servicio de Diagnóstico por la imagen, Rehabilitación,
Cuidados Intensivos y Hospital de día.
En la planta sótano se sitúan el aparcamiento, farmacia,
laboratorio de análisis clínicos, instalaciones generales,
servicio de medicina nuclear, salón de actos, ICARDIO
Instituto Cardiológico, Instituto Dental Mediterráneo, Área
de preparación al parto, vestuarios y cocina.
La primera planta se destina a consultas externas
ambulatorias, de las distintas especialidades médicas,
con una recepción propia y acceso directo desde el hall
principal.
El bloque quirúrgico se sitúa en la segunda planta;
dispone de seis quirófanos, sala de partos, paritorio con
dos salas de dilatación y unidad de cirugía sin ingreso.
A partir de la tercera planta se han dispuesto las cuatro
unidades de hospitalización de 28 habitaciones por
unidad.
La sexta planta dispone de un área de hospitalización y
un centro de diálisis.

The Hospital building is distributed over an area of 18,000
sq/m. It consists of a basement, a lower ground floor, a
ground floor and six upper floors. There are a total of
6 elevators; one exterior giving panoramic views, two
designated for special use by hospital beds and patient
circulation, another for maintenance staff and internal use
and the remainder are at the disposal of the general public.
The general access to the Hospital is through the Main
Hall on the ground floor where the following can be found:
Admissions, Patient Information, Administration and
Management offices, Cafeteria, Ophthalmology, Plastic
Surgery, Reproductive Medicine and Gynaecology and
Obstetrics.
The A&E Unit is located in the lower ground floor and it
has a separate pediatric emergency department. The
Emergency Department has a separate entrance for
patients who arrive on their own accord and one for
ambulances. In this floor there is also the Service of
Diagnostic Imaging, Physiotherapy, Day Hospital and
Intensive Care.
The car park, Pharmacy, Laboratory, General Service
Installations, Nuclear Medicine, Hall auditorium, birth
preparation and Dental Institute Mediterranean, ICARDIO
Cardiology Institute, kitchen and staff changing rooms are
all situated in the basement.
The Outpatients Clinic is located on the first floor and
covers all the different medical specialties. It has its own
reception and has direct access from the main hall.
The Theatre Unit is situated on the second floor and
consists of 6 operating theatres, a Delivery Room with
two Labour Rooms and a Day Case Unit.
Above this floor are 4 hospital wards, each consisting of
28 rooms.
The sixth floor has an hospital area and a dialysis center.

El Hospital se conceptúa como un Centro abierto, por lo
que ofrece sus servicios a los distintos profesionales en
nuestra zona de influencia. No obstante, el Hospital IMED
Levante cuenta con un cuadro médico propio, bien en

que pondrán a disposición del usuario la práctica
totalidad de las especialidades médicas y quirúrgicas.

La unidad de Cuidados Intensivos dispone de 11 boxes
individuales y un box quirúrgico. La distribución espacial
permite un acceso rápido y vigilancia continua del
personal de enfermería a los pacientes.
Se dispone de facultativos especialistas en cuidados
intensivos las 24 horas, así como dotación de personal
de enfermería especializado.
Todos los boxes cuentan con:

The Intensive Care Unit is composed by 11 individual
patient boxes and a surgical procedure box. The
distribution of the unit allows a máximum surveillance as a
easy Access to the patients.
Doctors and nurses, specialists in the field of Intensive
Care, will provide 24 hour cover.

El área quirúrgica de IMED Levante se distribuye
en 1100m2, ocupando la totalidad de la 2ª planta del
hospital. El área se ha diseñado pensando en la máxima
seguridad del paciente y está equipada con todos los
medios necesarios para ofrecer un servicio sanitario de
la máxima calidad.
El área cuenta con un total de 6 quirófanos, 1 sala de
endoscopias, 1 zona de ambulantes para cirugías
menores, 1 paritorio y dos salas de dilatación.
IMED Levante cuenta con un reconocido grupo de
profesionales sanitarios en constante formación que
ofrecen las técnicas quirúrgicas más novedosas,
que mejoran los resultados obtenidos y aceleran los
procesos de recuperación post-quirúrgicos.

La dotación del área quirúrgica permite la realización
de las técnicas operatorias más avanzadas.
•Cirugía laparoscópica. Cirugía de la obesidad, cirugía
del colon.
•Cirugía artroscópica. Permite la realización de
artroscopias de alta resolución de hombro, cadera
y rodilla.
• Cirugía cardiaca. Con un quirófano especialmente
equipado con bomba de circulación extracorpórea
para la realización de bypass cardiaco y sustitución
de válvula cardiaca.
•Neurocirugía. Con microscopio electrónico de alta
precisión que permite las intervenciones en esta
área.
•Coloproctología. Nuestra unidad especializada
en este área aplica las técnicas quirúrgicas más
novedosas para la resolución de patologías
colorectales.
•Litotricia por láser. Disponemos de láser que
permite la eliminación de las piedras del riñón de
una forma rápida y eficaz.
•Sala de endoscopias. Realización de gastroscopias
y colonoscopias con sedación.

The IMED Levante’s surgical area covers 1100m2 and
occupies the hospital’s entire 2nd floor. The area was
designed with patient safety in mind and is equipped
with all the equipment required to offer a top-quality
health service.
The area comprises 6 operating theatres, 1 endoscopy
procedure room, 1 outpatient room for minor surgery, 1
delivery room and two dilation rooms.
IMED Levante has a recognised, constantly training,
group of health professionals providing the most
innovative surgical procedures, which improve the
results obtained and help to speed up post-surgical
recovery processes.
At the forefront of surgery
The special surgery area means the most advanced
operating techniques can be performed.
• Laparoscopic surgery. . Weight loss surgery, colon
surgery.
• Arthroscopic surgery. It allows the realization of high
resolution arthroscopy shoulder, hip and knee.
• Heart surgery. The area has an operating theatre
specially equipped with an extracorporeal circulation
pump for the performance of heart bypass and heart
valve replacement procedures.
• Neurosurgery. With a high-precision electronic
microscopy enabling procedures in this area.
• Coloproctology. Our unit specialised in this area uses
the most innovative surgical techniques to resolve
colorectal pathologies.
• Laser lithotripsy. We have a laser that can be used to
remove kidney stones quickly and effectively.
• Endoscopy procedure room for the performance of
gastroscopies and colonoscopies with sedation.

Los quirófanos están equipados de forma

misma sala operatoria.
• Flujo laminar. Este sistema filtra el aire suministrado
al quirófano, ofreciendo un flujo de aire estéril y
homogéneo en el área de la mesa de operaciones.
•Respiradores de altas prestaciones.
•Monitorización hemodinámica invasiva y no invasiva,
con cálculo de gasto cardíaco, monitorización
capnográfica y de parámetros neurológicos.
• Lámpara Quirúrgica Doble de 150.000 Luxes cada
una y una cámara de grabación digital.
• Mesas quirúrgicas totalmente electrónicas con
accesorio para todas las especialidades.
• Puertas Electrónicas Automáticas y Estancas
en salida y entrada del paciente. Luminarias con
estanqueidad.
•Área de preanestesia en cada quirófano.
•Electrobisturí de última generación con módulo de
argón y Ligasure.
Área obstétrica
El área de paritorios consta de dos salas de dilatación
y un paritorio contiguo. El equipamiento del servicio
obstétrico se completa con dos monitores fetales
uno de los cuales es intraparto.

The operating theatres are equipped with the latest
technology as standard. More specifically, they have

• Access to the Electronic Medical History from the
operating theatre itself.
• Laminar flow. This system filters the air supplied
to the operating theatre, providing a sterile and
homogenous air flow around the operating table.
• High performance respirators.
• Invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring
with calculation of cardiac output along with
capnography and neurological parameter monitoring.
• Double 150,000 Lux Surgical Lamp and a digital
camera.
• Fully electronic operating tables with accessories
for use in all specialties
• Automatic and Waterproof Electronic Doors for the
patient’s entry and exit. Waterproof lighting.
• Preanesthesia area in every theatre.
• Latest generation electrosurgical equipment with
an argon and Ligasure module.
Obstetrics area
The delivery area comprises two dilation rooms
and an adjacent delivery room. The obstetrics
department also has two foetal monitors one of
which is intrapartum.

El Servicio de Urgencias del Hospital cuenta con
acceso independiente para pacientes y ambulancias
y dispone de una unidad de admisión propia con

El Servicio de radiodiagnóstico está totalmente
digitalizado. Cuenta con un Sistema de Información
Radiológico (RIS) y con un Picture Archive Computer
Service (PACS) que permiten ofrecer imagen e
informes médicos dentro y fuera del Hospital
mediante un servidor web. Así mismo, todos
los equipos disponen de Worklist con lo que las
exploraciones son gestionadas directamente desde
los equipos, permitiendo optimizar la asistencia
ofrecida.
La información completamente digitalizada permite
un acceso inmediato por parte de los facultativos a
todo el material e imágenes dinámicas.
RESONANCIA MAGNÉTICA NUCLEAR
El equipo es polivalente, permitiendo hacer todo
tipo de exploración. Gracias a su capacidad de
gradientes, permite, entre otros, la realización de
estudios cardiacos de alta resolución, columnas
dorsales completas, estudios cerebrales y estudios
vasculares periféricos con gran calidad y acortando
sensiblemente el tiempo de exploración.
ECOGRAFÍA ULTRASÓNICA
El Hospital IMED Levante dispone de diferentes
equipos de ultrasonido, uno adscrito al Servicio
de Diagnóstico por Imagen, tres al Servicio de
Cardiología y un quinto adscrito al Servicio de

The Radiology Department is situated on the lower
ground floor and has direct access from the Accident
and Emergency Department. It includes its own
reception area and a large waiting room.
The Diagnostic Imaging Service, which is all
digitalized, along with a Radiology Information System
(RIS) and Picture Archive Computer Service (PACS)
permits availability of images and reports within
and outside the Hospital via a web server. Equally,
all the apparatus are managed by a Worklist which
ensures all examinations are carried out directly from
the equipment, optimizing patient care and reducing
waiting times.
Fully digitized information can provide immediate
access to doctors to view all the material and dynamic
images.
NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE
Due to its capacity for different gradients, the
equipment can be used in different fields, allowing
high resolution cardiac studies, spinal and brain
examinations and peripheral vascular studies, all of
high resolution as a result of its ample FOV (Field of
view).
ULTRASOUND SCAN
The Hospital is equipped with three Ultrasound
Scan Units; one located in the Diagnostic Imaging
Department, three allocated to the Cardiology
Department and a fifth in the Gynaecology & Urology

En el laboratorio se centraliza las siguientes
actividades
• Análisis hematológico, con contadores de
poblaciones celulares y coagulación sanguínea.
• Dos analizadores de parámetros bioquímicos
que permiten realizar tanto las determinaciones
más habituales de la práctica clínica como las
llamadas determinaciones especiales (parámetros
bioquímicos menos frecuentes, determinaciones
hormonales, serología y anticuerpos etc.)
• En el laboratorio de análisis clínicos se encuentra
también una unidad de Microbiología para procesado
de muestras, cultivo e identificación de gérmenes.
• Finalmente también se encuentra en el laboratorio
el Depósito de Banco de Sangre.
El Laboratorio de Análisis Clínicos del Hospital se
sitúa en la planta sótano con acceso directo desde
el hall de entrada. El personal adscrito a la unidad
posibilita el procesado de muestras cubriendo la
atención 24 horas al día.
Las muestras se procesarán en el momento de su
indicación a través de un sistema informatizado
bidireccional GPC (Gestor de peticiones Clínicas).
Dicho sistema permite la realización de la petición
y el seguimiento del procesado de la misma en
tiempo real hasta el momento en que se producen
los resultados y la validación de los mismos por el
facultativo a cargo.
Igualmente existe la posibilidad de que centros
externos al hospital remitan sus muestras a nuestro
laboratorio, en cuyo caso se facilitarían los medios
de transporte de las mismas hasta nuestro centro
y el acceso del profesional a sus resultados vía
Internet en el momento en que éstos se produzcan,
todo ello con un sistema de acceso que garantiza la
confidencialidad de la información.
También realizamos el envío de informes a pacientes
mediante correo electrónico encriptado, según lo
estipulado en la LOPD.

The following analytical procedures are carried
out in the Laboratory:
• Blood tests, with cell count and coagulation
• Two Biochemical analyzers capable of carrying
out all the determinations most frequently required
in medical practice and also the so called “special
determinations” such as hormones, antibodies and
serology.
• A Microbiology Unit that will process samples for
germ identification and cultures.
• The laboratory also includes a Blood Bank.
The Laboratory is located in the Hospital basement
and has direct access from the Main Hall. The Staff
assigned to the Unit render possible the processing
of samples 24 hours a day.
The sample is processed immediately by a dual-
direction computer system (Directory of Clinical
Requests or GPC). The system allows for the
implementation of the request and follows up in real
time the sampling process until the result is validated
by the Analyst.
There also exists a possibility that external Centres
may send samples to the Laboratory, in which
case the necessary transport will be provided as
well as results being immediately facilitated via the
Internet through an access system that safeguards
confidentiality of the information.

una nueva unidad de medicina regenerativa, cuyos

¿Qué son los factores de crecimiento?
Los factores de crecimiento, también conocidos por
sus siglas PRGF (Plasma rich in Growth Factors, Plasma
Rico en Factores de Crecimiento) son una serie de
sustancias que desempeñan un conjunto de funciones
fundamentales en el organismo relacionadas con la
regeneración de tejidos.
Tipo de lesiones tratadas y ventajas
El PRGF se aplica cada día en más ámbitos de la
medicina como la cirugía oral, la odontología, la medicina
