Fordism, named after Henry Ford, is a
modern economic and social system based
on industrial mass production of automobiles
Fordism as defined in Oxford dictionary:
³the use in manufacturing industry of
the methods pioneered by Henry Ford,
typified by large-scale mechanized mass
production´
Ford introduced the Model T, which was
simple and light, yet sturdy enough to drive
on the country's primitive roads. The mass
production of this automobile lowered itsunit price, making it affordable for the
average consumer.

As the World War I centered in Europe broke out in 1914, all the
World¶s major powers were involved in it. Thus, technologicaladvancements in commercial vehicles took a back-seat. Since, most
of the brains and resources at that time was diverted towards the
development of military equipments, consequently combat vehicles
technology greatly benefitted in this era.
The British took the lead in Tank development with the deployment
of Mark 1 tanks, inAugust 1916 in the Battle of Somme and
immediately it¶s success was noted among theAllies and the Central
Powers.
The French were not far behind, as they also introduced their main
battle tank named Renault FT, in May 1918. which greatly turned the
tide in favor of theAllies. In response to the development of Allied Mark 1 & Renault FT
tanks, Germany speed-up it¶s development of Tanks and introduced
theA7V to the war, nicknamed ³The Moving Fortress´, which was a
massive disappointment due to it¶s primitive design and heavy and
large size.
