WHAT IS NARRATIVE?● The way events are put together.● Types of narrative:

- Linear / non-linear- Open-ended / closed- Single-strand / multi-strand

Narrative in The Killing

- In the killing it follows a linear storyline.- It follows a multi strand story which involves many

different stories at the same time.- The story ends up being closed by the end of the

season when we find out the killer.- By the end of the season all the different stories

come together.

- Gives puzzles to be discovered at the end.

- Keeps audience guessing and engaged.

- Based works on Ferdinand de Saussure.

- Adding information can change how signs are read.
