DESCRIPTION

In the famous Bordeaux wine region of Saint Emilion, Tom Doak has designed a world-class golf course on a gently rolling piece of land surrounded by vineyards and beautiful old oak trees... The artist had a free hand from the Mourgue d'Algue family to build a pure golf course which will become one of the best in Europe and probably a "Grand Cru Classé". www.segolfclub.com [email protected]

An enchanted past

Celebratean enchanted past

These lands - on the borders of Aquitaine, Périgord and Dordogne - have staged some of history’s most com-pelling scenes. The banks of the River Dordogne host among the world’s oldest painted caves, with their stir-

ring animal figures.

Romans, Celts, Gauls, Englishmen, monks and lords have bequeathed a host of vestiges. Here, the past is pal-pably present. To unveil its mysteries, cup your ear and listen to the châteaux, the church pediments, and the

village passageways. Or let yourself be guided round enthralling local museums.

The owners, the Mourgue d'Algue family

The owners,THE MOURGUE D’ALGUE FAMILY

GolfGolf is part of the family heritage in the Mourgue d’Algue family. With 30 national titles and 40 selections in the national team, Gaëtan, the father has dedicated his life to the development of golf in France. For 40 years, this visionary has largely been involved in three major golf business activities; the organisation of professional tour-naments among which the “Trophée Lancôme”, the creation of golf courses and of the first European guide “Europe’s Top 1000 golf courses-Peugeot Golf Guide”, and the first worldwide guide “The Rolex World’s Top 1000 golf courses.” His wife, Cécilia has probably one of the most eloquent record in French amateur golf with 4545 national titles and two silver medals at the World team championship. After winning the NCAA in 1995, their daughter Kristel turned professional on the European Tour. As for their son, André a scratch player and a natio-nal champion in his own right, he joined his father in golf course construction after graduating in engineering

and political science.
