Desktop RFP ProjectBackground:
• PTI Recommendation “Move to a highly standardized workstation environment on a statewide basis with ITD managing the replacement cycle”.
• Enterprise Architecture- ARB Direction:1. Prepare and execute an RFP to begin aggregated single
brand PC acquisition for the office automation PC.2. Standardize the specifications for PCs to be used in state
government to reduce the total cost of ownership.3. Adopt a four year replacement cycle for office automation
PCs to reduce the total cost of ownership.4. Continue to study how to best manage the replacement
cycle process.

Desktop RFP ProjectMajor goals for the Desktop RFP project:
1. Confirm PC equipment specifications as developed by the Desktop Acquisition Study team (ratification by Desktop Domain team).
2. Using the PC specifications, conduct a survey of State agencies to obtain purchasing volumes.
3. Management tool specifications and evaluation criteria (developed by Desktop Domain subgroup).
4. Draft Request for Proposals (RFP) document. 5. Conduct the RFP solicitation process within
WSCA pool of vendors. 6. Milestone Reports and Recommendations back to
EA (Architecture Team, ARB)

Desktop RFP Project
• A new national WSCA contract will be awarded (lead state is Minnesota) starting Sept 1, 2004. The new contract will allow states to compete standard specifications and volume purchases within the framework of WSCA approved suppliers.
• Team decided to stay within WSCA, if possible, because we can leverage much of the contract work completed by Minnesota such as: Financial stability and evaluations. Reporting and service level capacity. Ability to support large enterprise level
demands.

• CPU – 3GHz P4, Memory – 512MB
Power User Desktop • CPU – 3.2GHz P4, Memory 1GB

Power User Laptop• CPU – 1.7GHz PM, Memory 1GB
