Quick Statistics
As of 2012, 53 percent of college graduates are unemployed or
underemployed (Michael, http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com). According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers
(NACE), new college graduates who had participated in internshipsdid far better in the job market than their classmates who had nothad that experience(www.collegeplus.org).
In 2008 employers extended job offers to nearly 70 percent of their
interns, up from 57 percent in 2001.(www.collegeplus.org)
Students who intern for the company they want to work for aftercollege are more likely to have a position waiting for them after
college. According to NACE, responding employers indicated that while 31
percent of their new employees came from their own internshipprograms, 62 percent had internship experience of some kind.
