PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Summer is here and I hope this finds you having a great time, enjoying family, friends, and vacations.
The Spring Luncheon was a “sweet” success. The food, style show, and décor were exceptional. A big thank you to all who took charge of “Candyland” and created this fun event. Hats off to the Spring Luncheon Com-mittee!
Your FAN board will be meeting each month this sum-mer to insure our club runs smoothly. We will be working on the proposed budget for 2018-2019, creat-ing the new FAN Directory, discussing upcoming pro-grams and events, and looking for members to chair activities. Please contact me if you would like to be-come more involved and get in on the fun “behind the scenes.” We love volunteers!
This is my first newsletter message and please know I would love to hear from you with any comments, sug-gestions or questions. Just give me a call, text, or email.
Sue Behnke, President
FAN General Meetings
FAN meets on the first Tuesday of each month
at 10:00 a.m. (September thru April)
Faithbridge Church, 18000 Stuebner Airline
Social Hour begins at 9:30 a.m.
Our next meeting will be September 4, 2018.
Send in the Clowns!
We are so excited to have Melo Pisha speak at
our first FAN meeting in September.
Melo is a retired professional clown and, be-
sides being interested in clowns, Melo loves
history. She will entertain us with a history of
clowns that I bet you weren’t aware of. Clowns
have existed for over 8000 years … come and
learn more about the beginnings of clowns up
to present day modern clowns.
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again in
September.
Brenda Hanna, 1st Vice President

NEW FAN DIRECTORY
Work is already in progress to produce a new FAN directory.
The cost to print the directory is in the range of $1,600 and your FAN board is selling ads to defray the cost of this significant expense.
We encourage our members to use the merchants who advertise in our directory! Let the restau-rants and other vendors know we are patrons because we appreciate their support of our club. Mention during your visit that you are a FAN member and have seen their ad in the directory. We want them to know their advertising dollars are working!
Sue Behnke, President
Beat the summer heat!
Let AMC and Regal theaters cool you
down!
Movie fans, unite! Although our Monday Matinee
is set for the third Monday each month, we like to
add a few extra editions during the hot summer
months when many FAN activities are at rest.
If you’d like to be “on the list” for notices about
Monday Matinee, please send your name, email
address and cell phone number to me. I try to send
a blast email on the Friday or Saturday prior to a
chosen Monday matinee. Will phone only if there is
a last-minute problem.

The Home Place of Texas is our FAN 2018/2019 charity
Home Place of Texas provides quality Day Programs for adults with develop-mental disabilities. The picture below was taken at their “Best Friday Ever” celebra-tion when Sue Behnke, Lin Fish and I visited their facility. Kim Degnan (center) is one of the program managers. To further support this group, we will be collecting newspaper insert coupons for them throughout the year starting with our September meeting. Look for a box marked The Home Place in which to drop off your coupons. Thanks, Jennifer Banks Charity Committee Chair
NATURE WALKERS The FAN Nature Walkers will resume in the fall … unless an unexpected cold front blows thru! You can sign up in advance by sending your email address to [email protected]. Have a good summer. Jacqueline Webster

Cost is $3 and lunch must be purchased (kid’s menu or salad is OK). Coffee is free in the morning and sodas all day. We also get a (young) senior discount.
We are a friendly group … talking is required. We need more folks to play, so ask a friend to sign up at the September meeting. We have $2 prize money … just to add a little spice … our goal is fun, not riches.
Canasta lessons gladly given!
You will get a reminder e-mail and you will need to reply so I know how many are playing.
