brothers John Gregoria,

Jeff Woodhams, and

all members who may

be in ill health.

Tickets have been selling briskly. Our goal was to sell 200 of them, and we are going to be close to reaching that num-ber, which repre-sents the largest profit we could make for our Lodge on this event. The first drawing for weekly prizes will be on Fri-day, May 9, and the Italian Buffet dinner is going to be on Friday, July 11. Re-member that we are giving away $1,000 in cash prizes!

Our local lodge

scholarship deadline

will have passed by

the time you receive

this newsletter. We

will be announcing

the two recipients at

our 210 Dinner on

May 16th..

A Scholarship fund-

raiser for 2015 is

being planned.

tails in upcoming

editions of this

newsletter.

As I write this, spring is in the air.

Time for new beginnings and fresh

ideas. These past 2 months have

been busy organizing and planning

for the year ahead. I have formed a

new finance committee of VP Paul

D’Amico, Ken Gregory, and Tony DiCostanzo.

There charge will be office operations, budgeting,

fundraising, and a possible capital campaign,

among other financial related duties.

We have the ball rolling on several events this

year, one being the festival. After just one very

productive meeting we have set the dates of Au-

gust 7 & 8, 2015, tentatively lined up some enter-

tainment, set up some subcommittees and look

forward to possibly making some minor improve-

ments. Our next festival meeting will be Thursday

May 28. All are welcome to attend and partici-

pate.

At this council’s first Assembly meeting in April

we inducted 5 new members and I hope they be-

come familiar faces at our functions. They are

Robert Urbano, Steve DiRaddo, David DiRaddo,

Jim Vedora, and Dan Hennessy. Welcome to our

lodge!

I’d like to thank brother and kitchen chair Tony

DiCostanzo, his kitchen staff and the many volun-

teers for doing a great job with our Lenten fish

dinners which were a great success. We have

many outside parties already booked for the sum-

mer.

As always, I invite all of our members to come and

participate enjoy and use your lodge. Many people

bring new ideas, new ideas bring change and fresh

beginnings.

Thanks go out to brother Tom

Quartaro for organizing a lodge

clean up day on Sat. April 11th.

With such a large building like

our Geneva Lodge, stuff accu-

mulates over the years and every

ten years or so we have to get rid

of the clutter. Tom partnered

with students from Hobart and

William Smith Colleges who

were out in the community for a

Day of Service. Between a hand-

ful of students and some lodge

volunteers, about 15 cubic yards

of stuff was removed from the

building. Good job by all in-

volved.

I’d like to thank brother Ken

Gregory for the tireless hours he

has been putting in reorganizing

our office and working with our

bookkeeper to keep our finances

in order as well as countless

other tasks. Great job Ken!

April 11th was also the Festival

of Nations Day at our Geneva

High School and Middle School.

Lodge Culture and Heritage

Chair Steve Muzzi led a lodge

contingent who served meatballs

to students, parents, and guests.

Members of the GAIL Lodge

were also on hand to pass out

pizzelles. Both lodge had their

membership banners up and

membership materials on hand.

The 2014-2015 Winter Bocce

League ended on April 7th with

Team Bud taking the league title

with a 21-7 win/loss record. The

Bud team got off to a quick start

early in the season and kept the rest

of the teams at bay throughout the

season, finally pulling away from

their closest pursuers in the final

round of play. This is Team Buds

second title in the past four years.

Team members are: Steve Knittle,

Rich Tiballi, Rich Gardner, and

captain Mike Karweck.

A single elimination playoff fol-

lowed the season with all teams

involved. The Squadra Palle Grande

team took the playoff title with a 3-

0 record.

A league banquet followed on April

28th with awards for many players

and Team Bud added to the Cham-

pions Plaque. Longtime league

commissioner Jamie Kaim, Jr. was

presented a plaque by the league

members for his many years of run-

ning the league.

Drink Pricing at the Lodge The lodge bar managers have try to

hold the line on our drink prices for

the past couple of years, but just like

in commercial bars, our costs have

risen to a point where a price rise

was necessary. You may notice

most drinks and beers have gone up

by $.50. That being said, we still

have some of the lowest drink prices

in the city.

Stop in for a cold one and don’t

forget to get in on the weekly 50/50

drawing.

New Committees President Sam Cosentino has been forming

new committees over the past month to help

lead the lodge forward through 2015 and

beyond. With such a large lodge that owns a

building and hosts dozens of events

throughout the year, there are many , many

opportunities for all members to contribute

their time and talents. That is the lifeblood

of any volunteer organization such as ours.

Contact Pres. Sam by calling the lodge if

you can help out. No amount of your time,

even a few hours here and there, is ever

insignificant.

Bingo Our weekly Sunday Bingo has moved to our

summer hours. Bingo now starts at 7:00 pm.

There will be NO bingo on Mother’s Day

May 10th.

If you can volunteer a few hours 5 or 6

times a year, call Bingo Chairman Sully

Ciancaglini at 789-3842.

Summer Parties The warm weather is fast approaching and

maybe you’re looking for a place to hold

that graduation party, family reunion, or

other event where our pavilion might come

in handy. We have a few dates still open on

the calendar. Call Tony DiCostanzo at 789-

9346 or the lodge to find out what dates we

have available.

Dues For 2015

The lodge finance team has been

going over our membership roll and

we’ve discovered that there has

been some confusion on what rate

some of our older members should

be paying at as some members at-

tained free dues status more than a

decade ago. Although we have sent

out a dues notice each year with our

Early Bird Dinner reservation form,

that clearly states what rate each

member should be paying, we now

know this isn’t being done correctly.

In our next edition of this newslet-

ter, a full explanation of what our

dues structure currently is, and how

we got there, will be included. It is

important that we get this straighten

out moving forward.
