PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE by
Nichola Engle, PP, PLS
If you missed last month’s meeting…boy did you miss a fabulous speaker. Oh who am I kidding…it was just me. We had a great time sharing ideas and finding new procedures as we laughed and enjoyed ourselves. Thank you to everyone who attended, I love the sharing that we did. It always makes me feel good when I can walk away from a meeting having learned something myself. I wanted to share some of those things I learned and some of the things I shared in last night’s CLE on Efficiency in the Work Place. I have listed below some tips that we collaborated on last night.
• First Come-First Serve Rack/ • Before you answer the telephone grab a pen and paper,
ready to write the caller’s name down. • Prioritize three times a day-morning, noon and end of day. • Carry a post-it pad and pen with you at all times to jot notes
down. • Do challenging projects when you are at your “freshest” time. • If you have a co-worker who distracts you throughout the day, ask them to help you with the project you are currently
working on. Again, thank you to those who attended and taught me as well.

What adds value to your membership? Why did you join NALS? Why do you stay a member of NALS? Is it the education? Is it the certification? Is it the networking? Is it the fellowship? If you send me a paragraph or two answering any of the above questions (or all of them in one short submission), we will print them in the Brief. You will also be entered into a drawing – prize to be determined – to be awarded at the January membership meeting, so you have some time to get the submissions to you.
