‘Touch-a-truck’ fundraiser to benefit Truckload Carriers Association’s Truckload

of Respect program in its support of Wreaths Across America ALBANY, NY– September 25, 2014 – The New York State Motor Truck Association (NYSMTA), along with Bestpass™, Inc.,   providers of bulk purchasing and streamlined toll management services to commercial fleets, today announced that they will be hosting Operation: Big Wheels for Heroes. Proceeds from the touch-a-truck fundraiser will be used to help the Truckload Carriers Association’s Truckload of Respect program support the annual Wreaths Across America (WAA) wreath-laying event at Arlington National Cemetery. “Bestpass is proud to support the New York State Motor Truck Association’s effort to help Wreaths Across America meet its goal of placing a remembrance wreath on every gravestone at Arlington National Cemetery,” said Alison Knowlton, director of marketing for Bestpass. “By bringing our community together for this great cause we hope to raise enough money to fill a trailer with 4,000 wreaths while also providing an opportunity for the motoring public to learn about large trucks and other vehicles.” Operation: Big Wheels for Heroes is scheduled for Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 10 am until 2 pm EDT at Colonie Center Mall in Albany, New York. The event will feature trucks and other vehicles including a WalMart Wreaths Across America tractor-trailer, a fuel tanker from Patriot Truck Lines, a cement mixer, and box, dump, and tow and specialty trucks. A number of law enforcement, emergency response and military vehicles, along with several pieces of construction equipment, will also be displayed. All proceeds from Operation: Big Wheels for Heroes will benefit WAA, a nonprofit organization that remembers, honors, and teaches about the service and sacrifices of our veterans, active military, and their families. Every year, the trucking industry actively supports Wreaths Across America by providing trucks for a weeklong convoy that culminates in the wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery known as Wreaths Across America Day.

About TCA’s Truckload of Respect Trucking plays an essential role in WAA’s annual wreath-laying event. Every year, professional truck drivers donate their time and motor carriers donate their trucks and fuel to deliver the wreaths. In 2013 alone, more than 500,000 wreaths were delivered to almost 900 veterans cemeteries across the United States. Since 2012, TCA has coordinated this nationwide effort, as well as raised money for the placement of wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery. For more information visit www.truckloadofrespect.com.
