On Thursday, November 15th the USAID Violence Prevention Project (VPP) and the Foundation for Guatemalan Development (FUNDESA) organized a regional meeting of businessmen in Cobán, Alta Verapaz.
The VPP has partnered with FUNDESA for three years in a row, helping finance the National Meeting of Businessmen (ENADE) held in Guatemala City. This year they also co-‐hosted a Regional Meeting of Businessmen in the VPP municipality of Cobán.
This is the first time a massive meeting for businessmen and entrepreneurs is held at a regional level, and the first year that economic development is directly linked to violence prevention by representatives of the private sector.
Felipe Bosch, president of FUNDESA and Andrés Castillo, president of CACIF (Coordinating Committee of Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial and Financial Associations) addressed an audience of hundreds of local landowners,
