We all know that "you are as old as you feel"

but many of our patients are now choosing to

give nature a helping hand by using non-

surgical facial aesthetic treatments such as

using “wrinkle relaxing injections” of

Botulinum Toxin (Botox®/Dysport®/

Azzalure®) or dermal fillers (e.g. Restylane®/

Juvederm®/Hydrafill®) to ensure that the

face they see in the mirror reflects how

young they feel.

Certainly these facial aesthetic procedures

complement the cosmetic dentistry services

such as tooth whitening, tooth straightening

Why dermal fillers

e.g. Restylane?

Dermal filler treatments with non-permanent

products e.g. Restylane are very safe and seen

by many practitioners as the gold standard in

aesthetic treatment. They may be combined

with “wrinkle relaxing injections” of Botox/

Azzalure in more stubborn or deeper wrinkles/

grooves or scar lines.

Dermal fillers mimick skin’s own natural

“plumper” hyaluronic acid: a substance which

normally deteriorates with age, resulting in lines

and wrinkles. With fine, precise application of

the injection, lines and wrinkles appear “filled”,

smoothed and dramatically reduced. Dermal

filler effects can be seen immediately and may

last up to 6 months.

Why Botulinum Toxin

e.g. Azzalure?

Botulinum Toxin e.g. Botox/Azzalure is a puri-

fied protein which is injected into specific mus-

cles in the face to temporarily relax them, sof-

tening facial expressions and helping to re-

verse signs of aging. It has been used cosmeti-

cally for more than 10 years and it has also

been used to treat certain medical conditions in

the UK for over 20 years.

Botox/Azzalure takes an average of 2-3 days to

start working, although it may take a little longer

for the full effects to be seen. The speed of the

action will depend on the strength of your facial

muscles and your individual response to the

injection. The effect may last 3-4 months.
