Our Proud Heritage

Since 1920, the Oklahoma Alpha Chapter has been at the heart of Greek life at Oklahoma State University. From our founding to

the present, our proud history speaks for itself through high academic achievement and leadership within the University. With more than 2,100 initiates, the Oklahoma Alpha Chapter has influenced the lives of numerous men, cultivating lasting friendships in the process. Many of our best college memories can be traced back to our SigEp experience.

While many of our alumni have gone on to successful and distinguished careers in business, medicine, law, technology, and countless other endeavors, the common bond of our brotherhood remains, along with our shared principles and values. Most of us can trace the roots of our success to the chapter house.

Through Sigma Phi Epsilon we not only learned the importance of friendship, knowledge, service, morality, and excellence, but we acquired valuable assets, which include leadership skills, organizational skills, social skills, teamwork, and character. Oftentimes, these traits have been integral to our personal success and helped make us the men we are today.

Our chapter house at 1121 West 4th Avenue is clearly the focus of undergraduate life for SigEp. It has been a home away from home for hundreds of young men and a classroom where our brothers have learned virtue, diligence, and brotherly love. However, if we wish for Oklahoma Alpha to continue its strong presence on the OSU campus, we must ensure that we are providing a safe, modern, and competitive facility. Now is the appropriate time to secure our future.

The need to rebuild

While the SigEp experience is certainly more than the bricks and mortar of the chapter house, our home undoubtedly plays

a significant role in the development of our brothers and as a proud symbol of our shared values and goals.

Builtin1978,1121West4thAvenuehasbeenapartofOklahomaAlpha’s legacy for33years and is showing its age. It hasbecomeclear that we must make a major investment in our next chapter house if we are to remain competitive, provide a quality living environment, and develop BalancedMen who follow our cardinal principles ofvirtue, diligence, and brotherly love.

keeping our BroThers safeThe safety of our collegiate members is of utmost importance to the Oklahoma Alpha AVC; we must offer a structurally sound and safe home for our collegians. Much like our personal homes, our chapter house must be a safe haven that instills confidence in our members and their parents.

space within our facility is necessary for our members to achieve success. We have all seen the impact of technology over the years, as devices not present during your college years are now necessities, including personal computers, high-speed Internet access, and e-mail. Our plan will ensure that SigEps excel academically andremain scholastic leaders on campus and within the Greek system.

We must also compete with the amenitiesofferedinnewlyrenovatedon-campusresidencehallsandoff-campusapartments.

OUR PLAN

The Oklahoma Alpha alumni and undergraduate leadership has developedasolidplantoaddressthelong-termviabilityofthe

Sigma Phi Epsilon experience on the Oklahoma State University campus. Through careful study, assessment, and planning, it has been determined that updates and maintenance to our chapter house are too costly, and the fraternity must invest in a new facility to meet the needs of today’s students. Working with architect Jonathan J. Kucera, theOklahomaAlphaAVChasdevelopedatacticalapproachto our future.

In all areas, the architect has been instructed to address mandatory building and fire code requirements. In addition, we have placed a

special emphasis on the use of practical and durable building materials, finishes,andfixtures.Theaimisahigh-quality,durable,andadaptablefacility that will provide a safe living and learning environment for many years.

The corporation members and architect have designed a 17,500-square-footchapterhousethatmeetstheever-changingneedsof today’sSigEpcollegians.Thisstate-of-the-artfacilitywillhouseapproximately60-70men.Theestimateforthisentireprojecttotals$4.7 million. We need support from all Oklahoma Alpha alumni if we wish to make this house our home for the foreseeable future.

Investing in our future

Our investment in the future of Oklahoma Alpha will ensure the success of our chapter and will promote a legacy upon which to

build an even greater brotherhood. Today, perhaps more than ever, college fraternities play a relevant role in shaping the lives of young men. SigEp provides a small-group living environment that offers our members asolid foundation for their education and also affords opportunities for high academic achievement and the development of leadership and social skills.

The undergraduate men have made a commitment to work hard in maintaining the programs and traditions that have benefited the lives of so many SigEps over the years. Together with our active members, the volunteer leadership of the Oklahoma Alpha AVC is committed to this major undertaking, which will allow us to build our new chapter house and compete with other fraternities and housing options in Stillwater.

This stage of our project requires assistance from a highly selective group of alumni—like you. We are working to identify brothers who have both the ability and interest to provide major assistance to the project. Remember that each of us benefited from the generosity, work, and sacrifice of those who went before us. We all enjoyed the comfort and brotherhood Oklahoma Alpha provided during our years at OSU. Now it is our turn to support Oklahoma Alpha and ensure that the same, wonderful experience is available to others.

We urge your thoughtful consideration of this plan. With your support, Sigma Phi Epsilon will continue to provide a quality living environment that supports, nurtures, and develops outstanding young men with the skillsandconfidence tofaceanever-changingworld. Thecommitmentwe make today cannot be underestimated—it will have a far-reachingeffect on the lives our Oklahoma Alpha brothers for years to come.
