It was great to see both adults and children working away to get our school yard ready for our annual Market Day. Thank you to the following families for contributing their time or money towards the day – Carr, Gross, Hamilton, Layne, Maclaurin, Robertson, Walmsley, Howard-Scholes, Cox and Ray. The garden beds were weeded and mulched, areas were tidied up and swept and the Fairy Garden got some great attention. The school grounds are looking lovely! Last Wednesday we had our School Council meeting. During the meeting we looked at the Parent Opinion Survey and the Student Attitudes to School Survey. There were high results in both the parent and student surveys in the areas of effective teaching, high expectations and school connectedness. The students Attitude to School survey is undertaken by the students in grade 4 to grade 6 and the results were very positive in all areas of the survey. The Parent Opinion Survey showed that our school could improve on teacher communication regarding student progress. The uEducateUs management system is designed to help with this communication. uEducateUs will enable teachers to upload student work with feedback, so parents can see how their child is progressing at different points in the year, outside of reporting times. Next Monday 28 th October is a Pupil Free Day. School staff will use this day to review teaching and learning from this year and continue planning for 2020. Lastly, dont forget to put your name down on the roster for our Market Day. We still have lots of slots left, particularly around lunchtime and early afternoon. If you cant get into the office to fill in the roster, please complete the roster sent home last week and send it back to the office or call the office to book a time in. Principal’s chat

Hi everyone,

Thank you to those who helped out at our Working Bee yesterday. It was

great to see both adults and children working away to get our school yard

ready for our annual Market Day. Thank you to the following families for

contributing their time or money towards the day – Carr, Gross, Hamilton,

Layne, Maclaurin, Robertson, Walmsley, Howard-Scholes, Cox and Ray.

The garden beds were weeded and mulched, areas were tidied up and

swept and the Fairy Garden got some great attention. The school grounds

are looking lovely!

Last Wednesday we had our School Council meeting. During the meeting

we looked at the Parent Opinion Survey and the Student Attitudes to

School Survey. There were high results in both the parent and student

surveys in the areas of effective teaching, high expectations and school

connectedness. The student’s Attitude to School survey is undertaken by

the students in grade 4 to grade 6 and the results were very positive in all

areas of the survey. The Parent Opinion Survey showed that our school

could improve on teacher communication regarding student progress. The

uEducateUs management system is designed to help with this

communication. uEducateUs will enable teachers to upload student work

with feedback, so parents can see how their child is progressing at different

points in the year, outside of reporting times.

Next Monday 28th

October is a Pupil Free Day. School staff will use this

day to review teaching and learning from this year and continue planning for

2020.

Lastly, don’t forget to put your name down on the roster for our Market Day. We still have lots of slots left, particularly around lunchtime and early afternoon. If you can’t get into the office to fill in the roster, please

complete the roster sent home last week and send it back to the office or call the office to book a time in.

Thanks,

Clubs: Last Wednesday all teachers held “clubs” which students

participated in for a 90 minute session. Danica ran a cooking class,

Kathryn supervised the Fairy Garden construction group, Robert ran

coding and Melissa had the students making juggling balls which they will

then use for learning circus skills. All students chose the club which they

participated in and whilst some did not get their first choice, groups will

change in four weeks so students have the opportunity to try something

different. There was a real buzz in the school grounds as students

excitedly cooked, planted, coded and juggled their way through the

Congratulations to the Merlo family on the safe arrival of baby Sophia last week.

Thank you

To Charlie and Maggie for being brave and talking to Maldon shop owners regarding our upcoming Shopping
