WOLF COUNTRY

HOLIDAY HOMECOMING

NOVEMBER 11th ~ 9 AM TO 4 PM

To Excuse a Student

A parent or guardian must call the attendance office to excuse a student’s absence. Calls must be received within 48 hours of a student’s absence. The voice mail is available at any time of day to leave a message. For attendance purposes a note will not be accepted unless it is from a doctor or dentist. Remember if your student is in a sport, WIAA REQUIRES a doctor note to excuse them to participate in their sporting activity that evening. This applies to games and practices.

Attendance Office: (360) 709-7815 When leaving a voice mail, please speak clearly and include the following information in your message:

Student name (please spell last name)

Parent or guardian name

Reason for the absence/Specific type of appointment (it will NOT be excused without a reason)

A phone number where the parent or guardian can be reached

Removing Your Student During the Day for an Appointment Advanced notification to the attendance office is ideal and appreciated. It saves disruption to the teachers, students and staff in trying to locate the student on short notice.

It is very important to understand that a parent/guardian must call to excuse their student AND the student must sign back in with the Attendance Office.

PLEASE CALL the attendance office at least 1 hour ahead of time to arrange those details so that we are sure your student gets a note in time to leave.

State your student’s name, spelling the last name.

State the type of appointment: Doctor, Dentist, Legal, Professional etc….

State the time your student needs to leave or approximate time your student will be arriving at school. A note will be sent to the student in class stating what time they may leave. If students return to school after the appointment they must sign in at the Attendance Office.

WELCOME NEW STAFF

Nicole Hayes— I graduated from Washington State University, after graduating from Black Hills High School. Before coming to join the Black Hills staff, she student taught at Timberline High School. In her spare time, she’s typically binge-watching Friends on Netflix, bowling, or cuddling up with her mini Aussie, Zeus! I am excited to be back at my alma mater and working with the staff that inspired me to become a teacher.

Nicholas Mailhot— I am a graduate of Saint Martins University. I studied mathematics and secondary education. While at SMU I played baseball for the University for 4 years. This summer I got married and prepped for the school year.

David Perreira— I am a Centralia College alum, with a background in Marketing, Sales and Distribution in the snack food industry. I am married, live on a old horse ranch with chickens, goats, dogs, and cats……all pets. I have a 22yo son in CA. Recently I have worked in the behavioral health field as a juvenile case manager in Thurston County. In my spare time I am a sports nut and enjoy participating, watching, and coaching all types of sports.

Keith Rhodes— I am a 1995 graduate of Tumwater High School. I attended Western Washington University and UW-Tacoma. I have worked in Bethel SD, Olympia SD, and Tumwater. I have two wonderful children, Aubrey (a BHHS Sophomore) and Brody (starting Kindergarten at MTS this year). I am very excited to be a BHHS Wolf!

EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS! Interested in traveling the world? Please join Jen Kelly, Social Studies Department Chair, at the September 13th Open House to find out about traveling to India!

BHHS SWIM AND DIVE

We also have a team facebook ("BHHS Swim/Dive Team") and a twitter account ("@BHHSswimanddive").

NEW SKATEBOARD RACK READY FOR USE! We have purchased a skateboard rack for students to lock up their skateboards and long boards in a safe place. Students are not allowed to carry or ride their skateboards on campus. The skateboard rack is located next to the attendance office. Students will need a lock to lock their board up. If you do not have a lock you may check one out in the front office.

FUTURE PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHERS OF AMERICA There is a new interest group for students this year at Black Hills High School. The club is the: "Future Physical Education Teachers of America". This club is for students who are or may be thinking of becoming a physical education teacher, coach, personal trainer, etc. We will meet from time to time on Friday's and discuss ways and means to enter into this profession. Lot's of information will be given to students and mentoring from our Black Hills P.E. Teachers will be available. Information will be shared on employment opportunities in these fields for young professionals. Come to the club fair on Friday, September, 15th, during PACK Time.
