First stop was at Menindee Central School followed by Broken Hill High School. I attended with staff and students from Wiley Park Girls High School. The purpose of the visit was to form partnerships with schools in the far west to enhance the learning of students, teachers and leaders. Menindee Central School felt like a home away from home even though it is located in a remote little town. There is a real family feel to the school with the sense of community, connectedness and belonging. This was visible while we were there and it is a true testament to the great leadership that the Principal, Fiona Kelly exhibits. Geoff Webb, Principal of Broken Hill High School was kind enough to spend a portion of his day sharing with me a range of issues which affect schools in remote areas. Over all, this trip provided me with the opportunity to expand my knowledge relating to principals leading and managing schools. Connecting with principals locally is a great advantage of course, but connecting with principals in settings that are totally different to ours allows me to obtain new ideas and try different things. Meeting face to face and having conversation around school management allows for stronger partnerships. I am hopeful that these partnerships will now allow for great teacher and student learning. I am also hoping that there will be opportunities for sharing in terms of pedagogy and leadership between the three schools. Finally, as educational leaders, our primary role is to create equity in education which will hopefully produce creative and well informed students. The trip created a platform for dialogue between kids from two different worlds as well as teachers and leaders working under the bigger umbrella of education in NSW. Looking forward to stronger partnerships and extending the Belmore family to the far west. Principal’s Message

It was a great pleasure for me to spend a week visiting schools in the far west of NSW.
