PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGEWelcome to Term 3. I hope that all students and their familieshave had a relaxing winter break and some time to reflecton their achievements and academic results from Semester1. It is important that students consider what they could doto improve their academic outcomes and plan the next steps. There are many staff who are able to assist with this process.Engagement with the chosen course of study is necessary forstudents to achieve success and we encourage all students toparticipate fully in their subjects and to ask for help from theirteacher or other support staff if they need it.
On Wednesday 19 July parents/carers had the opportunity tomeet with teachers at the Parent/Teacher Interviews to discusstheir child’s academic progress. Teachers welcome thesemeetings as they are able to provide parents/carers withdetailed information about the learning that students haveundertaken and discuss assessment results in detail. We lookforward to these discussions.
Each year during Term 3 the School Opinion Survey isconducted. This is an opportunity for students, staff andparents/carers to provide feedback to the school on what weare doing well and what areas may require further attention. TheSchool Opinion Survey will open on Monday 31 July. The surveyprocess selects sixty students in Years 8 and 11 to completethe survey at school. All parents/carers will be provided with aletter outlining how they log on to complete the survey. Theseletters will be given to the eldest child in each family in the lastweek of July. Please ask your child for the letter and take thisopportunity to provide us with feedback.

Scouts Queensland is bringing their Brisbane Gang Show tothe Pilbeam Theatre on Saturday, 5 August 2017 for TWOshows and they are both open to the public. Tickets are on salenow.
ABOUT BRISBANE GANG SHOW
The 2017 seasons boasts the largest cast ever, with 151Scouts aged 9 to 25 years on stage performing 'Bankrupt', themusical.
Bankrupt 2017 Overview
The Bellevue has been the heart of the city’s art and musicscene for the last sixty years. Despite loyal patronage overmany years, live theatre has taken a downturn in theseunsettled economic times. New media, on-demandentertainment and a diversified arts scene have the Bellevue’smanagement worried about her future. The Theatre Boarddecide to bring in a new Artistic Director to reinvigorate theprogramme and boost audience numbers, much to the dismayof the loyal patrons and previous Artistic Director. Popularmusical hits, exotic acts and many hopeful performers all makeup the Bellevue’s new programme; however, in bringing totown so many performances the Artistic Director has gone alittle overboard. Quite suddenly the Bellevue’s bank arrive at thetheatre and serve a default notice – they’re going to exercise amortgagee in possession sale. The cast, crew and communityof the Bellevue are outraged. They won’t stand for the theatrebeing sold.
Your assistance in helping to spread the word about this ScoutsQueensland performance would be greatly appreciated.
