Principal’s Newsletter 23rd June 2017 Dear Parents and Carers, It’s has been a very busy time for teachers with report writing and today reports have been sent home to parents and caregivers. We do encourage you to read these reports carefully and make a time for a Parent Teacher Interview on Thursday June the 29th. We regard these interviews as a vital component of our reporting processes but they are also an excellent opportunity for you meet with your child’s teacher and other staff who work with your child to discuss their midyear report. Where there is an active and positive partnership between school and home great student learning outcomes can be achieved. The school will be endeavouring to provide you will relevant information, which will enable you as parent to support the learning of your child. We aim for these meetings to be informative, constructive and interactive, and the teaching staff will clarify and expand on the written report, discuss assessments and samples of student work and discuss how your child’s further progress can be supported. I’ve been very pleased to read many of these reports and am very proud of the learning growth that students are demonstrating. Thank you to the dedicated staff here at Warringa Park School who work so hard to make a difference to student learning. There will be an end of Term Assembly for students at the Warringa Park School campus on the last day of the Term - June 30th commencing at 9:30am in the school hall. Parents and Caregivers are invited along to celebrate the Terms work. It will be fun! Just a reminder that school will finish early at 2.30pm on June 30th - the last day of school for Term Two. Parent/carers are requested to make arrangements to cater for this earlier finish of the school on this last day of the term. School will resume on Monday July 17th for all students. I want to take this opportunity to say thank you very much to our school community for your support in Marie’s absence. I have an amazing leadership team, teachers and support staff who have worked very hard to ensure high quality learning and teaching is paramount in every classroom, every day. Marie will be back at the start of Term 3 and we hope Marie had a lovely and relaxing break. We are looking forward on Marie’s return. Finally, I would like to wish all our students a safe and happy holiday for the up-coming mid-year break. Enjoy the weekend and the last week of school. Message from Nurse Nicole…Hi Everyone,

Immunisations:

The Wyndham City Council will be visiting our school and immunising students with 2004 Birthdates.

Please note: some 2004 birthdates were completed last year. Round 3 (Fri) 20th Oct 2017 HPV 11.15am

Epilepsy Plans:

Please ensure epilepsy plans are taken to your next Neurologist appointment and signed by the neurologist and yourselves. I like to keep these plans as current and relevant as possible. If any student has a recent seizure please contact me, so I can update their plans.

Asthma Plans:

With Winter upon us, please ensure your student has a current Asthma Plan. New Asthma Action Plans can be obtained from the First Aid Room or your doctor.

Medication: As per school policy we ask parents to commence all new medication over the weekend or holidays. So this can be closely monitored for any possible allergic reactions or side effects. We appreciate your cooperation regarding this. If you have any questions regarding medication or need your child to take medication at school please contact me.

Please note:

• All medication needs to be in the original packaging with child’s name, dose and time on the box.• If medication is being transported in students bags please contact the school as soon as possible, so we can remove the medication. Chaperones can secure school bags whilst on the bus but must not be used as a courier. • If at all possible directly handing over the medication at reception or myself would be appreciated.

Donations:

I would like to request donations of school track pants, shorts, school Long Sleeve T-Shirts and School T-shirts of all sizes. Many of our students do require additional clothing through the day. Please be mindful of this and pack additional clothes for your student.

If your student does come home with additional clothes please wash and return to the school, so that other students can benefit.

Nicole

Warringa UpdatesKeep Me Home If….It has come to that time of year again where sicknesses is widespread so we would greatly appreciate you keeping your child home while they are unwell and/or contagious. We have many students who are immunosuppressant and rely heavily on a healthy classroom setting.

Please have a look at the diagram here to know your child’s symptoms and when to not send them to school.

Are you interested in volunteering in the garden

at Warringa? If you are keen to assist students to learn

about edible plants we would love your help. Call the office

to register.
