VALE Chev David Game 31 March 1926—14 May 2015

MBBS, AO, KJSJ, FRACP, FRCGP, MCFPC, FHKCGP (Hon)

David was born and lived in Adelaide. He was educated at St Peter’s College and the University of Adelaide, and married fellow medical student Patricia Hamilton. From his early years as a family doctor, David became an advocate for general practice as a specialty in its own right. He was a founding member of the RACGP and President from1974 to 1976. He was a life member of and played important roles for the SA Branch of the AMA, including editor of the journal “Medic SA” from 2004 to 2012. He was appointed an Officer in the Order of Australia for service to general practice in 1983. David was a dedicated and active member of the Anglican church, for over 60 years with the parish church of St Aidan, and in the wider church community. He had a key role in the development of Anglicare SA. David and Pat were known to both their local community and internationally for their generosity and their hospitality at the family home of Rokeby, set in its beautiful garden in Royston Park. David’s philanthropic activity was generous and broadly based, benefitting numerous organizations including Anglicare, the Florey Foundation, medical education and research, and the South Australian Art Gallery and Museum. In 1995 David was invested as a Knight of Honour in the Order of St John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitaller and subsequently promoted to Knight of Justice. For many years David undertook responsibilities involved in the the organization of functions and fund raising for the Mary Potter Foundation. His dedication to the Priory was acknowledged and much respected. Knights and Dames in the regalia of the Order officially represented the Priory amongst the congregation of family, friends and colleagues, including six past presidents of AMA (SA), who gathered at St Aidan’s on 22nd of May, 2015 for his funeral service, celebrated by Bishop Ian George, former Archbishop of Adelaide. David is survived by his four children Ann, Philip, Timothy and Ruth and their partners, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Dame M Hamilton and Philip Game ‘
