Madison tried to ban trade with BOTH France and Britain, but that was also unsuccessful

After the Treaty of Fort Wayne, Native Americans Unified but it was too late
As Tecumseh tried to unify other tribes, the Shawnee were defeated by Harrison at the Battle of Tippecanoe

After the loss at Tippecanoe, Tecumseh fled to Canada and formed an alliance with Great Britain
Henry Clay and other American War Hawks demanded war against Britain
They aimed to stop aid to the Native Americans and looked to push Britain out of Canada

Some Americans wanted Britain punished for their acts at sea
Andrew Jackson wanted to end impressment and interference with American Ships
Jackson also wanted to open up more US markets
Congress declared war on Britain on June 18th, 1812 to put an end to British Actions against the US
