Classroom Procedures for Fourth Grade

Lunchroom/RecessRecess is your time to do as you choose. Make good choices on the playground. This is your time to run and play. Once in the cafeteria, this is your chance to talk to your classmates-not shout. Be ready to go when I come to get you at the end of lunch.

Restroom Breaks and Drinking FountainsPlease use the restroom before school and lunch, during snack and recess, and after recess. Bring a water bottle to keep on the floor by your table.

Library Library is once a week, we check out books during this time. Bring your books back for renewal/return anytime before they are due.

HomeworkWhen you have homework it should be readable, complete, and turned in on time. You will have vocab and spelling every week and math almost everyday.

Group WorkWorking in groups is a great way to learn and we will work in groups often. I do not make groups so you can be with your friends and talk about your favorite things. Groups are used to help you learn the most. You will have jobs to do and everyone is expected to participate.

Lining Up-Two lines. Quick and quiet.

HallwayWe will walk quietly in the hallway to class, lunch, or the bus.

Snack/recess timeWe have a late lunch, so please bring a healthy snack (granola bars, apples, etc.) daily. We may have snack outside to get some exercise. Calling for Attention Students who wish to share answers or thoughts on a subject should raise their hand to be called on.

AR Goals and Library Books- Students must have a book at their table at all times. If you don’t have one, choose a book from my shelf first thing in the morning. You are responsible for returning library books on time. Our goal is to read at least 30 minutes everyday. Your AR goal is 15 points for each three-month period.

Getting Help when the Teacher is BusyThere will be times when you will need help and I’m busy with another student. When this happens, reread directions, ask another student, and try again on your own, repeat this process if needed.

Telephone UsePhone use is only for an emergency- not setting up play dates.

Cell Phones and iPodsPhones are allowed but must be kept in your locker out of sight with volume off. Students are allowed to check them before and after school. No picture taking without permission.

Substitute TeachersWhen a substitute teacher is needed, you will take on extra responsibility for making sure the day goes well and everyone has a good day.

Class SuppliesAll class supplies (crayons, scissors, etc.) will be kept on the top shelf of your locker.

Expectations:1. Be prepared2. Listen respectfully3. Respect others and their property4. Work Hard5. Act like a fourth grader
