The National Competition of Carni-val Marches Foundry Progress came in 2005 with the aim of rescuing the ancient tradition of carnivals.

Besides the competition, the pro-ject organizes large street parades with the best blocks of the city of Rio de Janeiro; ballroom dances with the presentation of the 10 finalists songs, a release party for the CD, and the grand finale is presented on live in Rede Globo, for the public choose the winning marching.

This is a fair that takes place every Saturday in a neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. In addition to fresh foods and handicrafts, there neigh-bors and friends meet, chat, drink a beer and eat a cod cake, always with the sound of a good brazilian music called Choro.

Is one of several genres of music typical of Brazilian Carnival in Rio de Janeiro and Southeast Region of Brazil.

Marchinha is a extremely comic genre of music and the very name “marchinha” (little march) satirizes the seriousness of military march-es. Was prevalent in the Brazilian Carnival of the 20’s to the 60’s.

Choro, traditionally called chorinho (“little cry” or “little lament”), is a Brazilian popular music instrumen-tal style. Its origins are in 19th cen-tury Rio de Janeiro. In spite of the name, the style often has a fast and happy rhythm, characterized by vir-tuosity, improvisation, subtile mod-ulations and full of syncopation and counterpoint. Choro is considered the first urban popular music typical of Brazil.

after the sketches I did a puppet with towel paper and acrylic paint. I also did different masks for the puppet, a scenario and instruments with paper
