Production – Screen Shots of Double Page Spread  

 Again around every 10 minutes I took a screen shot of the production, this time of the double page spread. I started off by opening InDesign setting up the page into 3 columns on A4.  

 This is where my double page spread will be made, split into 3 columns to help the structure of my article.  

 I then covered up the lines with a sand yellow colour using the paint tool to draw a rectangle the size of the page, even though the lines were covered, I could still import content into the columns correctly.  

 To start off I first placed my original image on the first page, this was planned to fit the whole page but it looked stretched so I had to extend the article on the first page to go under the image which took up only half the page instead.  

 I then edited my image, by placing a black & white effect on it, touching up the saturation & colour levels.  

 I added my pull quote and brief introduction which I imported from Microsoft word to the article which I then added a stroke to because it needed to stand out to the reader.   

I had completed my first page, and to split up my article due to each paragraph having different titles. I placed lines in‐between each one to make it easier for the reader to follow. I also added a drop cap as it is a main convention used.  

 I added my 2nd page title/pull quote and page tag. I placed effects such as emboss and outer glow on the page tag to show that it is a common convention used for the reader to recognise. I also added a footer which included the page number, magazine title and website.  

 I felt the 2nd page title/pull quote looked plain and as it was at the top of the page in big font I thought it needed to stand out a lot more so I added a border using the stroke tool, increasing the thickness to ‘4pt’  

 I then wrote up my Question Answer article and felt that the questions needed to be acknowledged first so I made them bold and in an italic font and the questions were just normal.    

 I added my 2nd image which was placed on the 2nd page, I edited this image in Photoshop due to lack of some qualities I wanted to do on InDesign. I imported the image from Photoshop into InDesign and added a drop shadow, and rotated it a few degrees to the left so it looked like it was slightly sticking out of the page going over the question and filling out that space more. I also filled out missing spaces placing things in such as the ‘by line’ which lies in the middle of all the text splitting it up.
