Jorns AG has many years of
commitment to sheet metal
processing and mechanical
engineering
Kurt Jorns founded Jorns
AG in 1973. Today Jorns
AG employs some 100
people and can look back
on a very successful com-
pany history. Thanks to its
commitment to sheet metal
processing and mechani-
cal engineering, Jorns AG
is today a global leader in
the development, sale and
production of bending ma-
chines.
The family-run business is
in its second generation
under the management of
business administration
graduate Marc Jorns. It
was under his leadership
that the company obtained
its ISO 9001:2000 certifica-
tion in 2004.
In cooperation with our 40
agencies we sell our prod-
ucts around the world.
Our success is founded on
our strong focus on quality
and innovative power. We
are oriented to the needs
of our customers. What
our customers want flows
into the development of
our products, which is why
tinsmiths, roofers and hall
constructors around the
world rely on the quality

our customers.”
and cost-effectiveness of
our bending machines, slit-
ting machines, coilers and
uncoilers.
In 2001 Kurt Jorns and our
development team devel-
oped the TwinMatic and
TwinBend double bend-
ing machines. Thanks to
state-of-the-art technol-
ogy, these product lines
eliminate the time- and
energy-consuming process
of rotating and flipping your
parts.

To meet our customers’ exacting
requirements we use state-of-the-
art production methods, including
laser technology, welding robots
and CNC machining centres. The
result: bending machines with un-
surpassed continuous output.
Production and assembly
The components manufactured by Jorns AG are assembled and tested
in our own assembly hall. Jorns builds and sells 180–220 long bending
machines a year.

1.1 Stop type 91
The motorised stop is equipped with
automated stop fingers. Measure-
ment range 25–1000 mm (1250 mm).
The manual stop, type 91, is also
available for OP control. (Standard)
1.2 Spring fingers
The automated stop fingers
can be retrofitted with spring
fingers. Measurement range 10–
1000 mm (1250 mm). (Standard)
2.3 Profile rollers of the roll-
forming machine
The shearing carriage also serves
as a support for the profile rollers of
the roll-forming machine. Horizontal
as well as vertical profile rollers of
the roll-forming machine can be
used. (Optional)
3.1 RM top beam adjustment / 3.2 RH top beam adjustment
The top beam adjustment compensates different sheet thicknesses. De-
pending on the control system, the versions are mechanical RM (stand-
ard) (3.1) or hydraulic RH (optional) (3.2).
4 Top beam pretension
The top beam pretension makes
it possible to move each arm of
the bending machine manually.
This eliminates any torsion over
and beyond the profile length.

Our bending machines are
mounted on a frame and
are equipped with all nec-
essary levelling and fasten-
ing devices. They are driv-
en by a modern hydraulic
unit. Key terms such as
two speeds, top beam with
load relief, overload protec-
tion, bending cylinder with
damping, and pipe-burst
protection have long been
part of our standard vo-
cabulary. Stands and arms
are designed using sturdy
box-type welded construc-
“Tight tolerances
guarantee that
all individual
parts are easily
replaceable.”
5 Geometry
All machines are delivered with
bolted attachment rails. The
offset bending table offers many
advantages for profile produc-
tion (e.g. only 10 mm and 6 mm
attachment rail instead of 16
mm bending beam). Horizon-
tally and vertically displaceable
sheet cassettes.
6.1/6.2/6.3 Coupling joint
The bending beam is bearing-mounted on coupling joints. Depending on the series, we use the K-24L, K-24S or
K-28 coupling. Elegant radii and scratch-free sheet surfaces are the result of perfect lever ratios.
tion. Our bending machines

“The differ-
ence between
TwinMatic and
TwinBend is in
the positioning
system”
Double bending is the
cost-effective trend in
sheet metal processing –
and Jorns AG is a genuine
trendsetter. Developed by
Jorns AG, the TwinMatic
and TwinBend bending
machines operate using an
innovative and pioneering
technique capable of cop-
ing with the most exact-
ing requirements. These

1.1 TwinMatic stop
The clamping finger is capable
of gripping flat sheets and when
closed can also serve as a
normal rear stop. This permits
edging minimum shank lengths
of 25 mm. The travel distance
is 25 mm–1150/1300 mm at a
speed of 250 mm/s.
1.2 TwinMatic stop
This clamping finger can grip a
folded sheet up to a flank height of
40 mm. The travel distance is 150
mm–1150/1300 mm at a speed of
250 mm/s.
2/3 Side view of beam assembly
When using a top and bottom bending beam, the sheet metal no long-
er has to be turned over and rotated. This reduces the production time
considerably. While one bending beam is working, the other beam can
be moved out of the bending area by up to 295 mm. This provides the
room needed for the working process.
5 SF and SF3 shearing ma-
chine
The SF shearing machine was
especially designed to be slim
to ensure enough room for your
profiles. The complete shearing
machine is mounted on a linear
guide. The shearing carriage
also serves as a support for the
profile rollers of the roll-forming
machine.
4 Tapered stop
The maximum amount of taper is
2% on a 6.4 m machine. (Optional)
1.3 TwinBend stop
At stop 91 the travel distance is 25
mm–1150/1300 mm (spring finger
10–1150/1300 mm) at a speed of
250 mm/s.
10
6.1
With positive-negative
bending using two bend-
ing beams, the TwinMatic
and the TwinBend are more
adaptable and many times
faster than conventional
bending machines. There is
no longer need of auxiliary
personnel. Unit costs are
crucial, especially in indus-
trial bending. High employ-
ment costs often seriously
impact lucrative orders.
Long, heavy workpieces,
in particular, with many
reverse-bending operations
entail considerable added
expense.
It is specifically in this
area of operation that the
fully automatic TwinMatic
and the semi-automatic
TwinBend come into their
own. Both machines are
available in lengths of 4,
6.4, 8, 10 and 12.2 m. They
can work iron sheet up to a
thickness of 3 mm (400 N/
mm2). The insertion depth
is 1150/1300 mm. A unique
feature is the programma-
ble air gap, which, depend-
ing on the operating cycle
(top and bottom bending
beam), adapts automatical-
ly to the sheet thickness.

6.1 Preparing drawings
Our drawing software devel-
oped in-house lets you create
profiles easily and conveniently:
the workpiece is designed step
by step on the screen or on
an external PC. The software
automatically prompts you
for the key data – e.g. flange
length, bending angle, radius,
stop, sheet thickness, and sheet
quality.

1 Handling table
The handling table is fitted with
plastic rails that prevent scratching
the sheet. The table can be loaded
with 2 tons of sheet metal, the pull-
out arms with 50 kg each.
Only when the working
environment is well organ-
ised can the capacity of
modern machines be fully
utilised and the operator’s
work made easier. Simpli-
fied handling means faster
but also safer work on the
bending machines.
“The organisa-
tion around the
machine is key
to ensuring cost-
effective work.”

1 Uncoiler
The electronically driven uncoiler
for the Mini Service Centre as-
sembly is designed for strips of
1250 mm and 1600 mm and a load-
carrying capacity of 5000 kg. Ideal
for iron sheet thicknesses of up to
1.5 mm (400 N/mm2). The sheet coil
is tensioned by hand using a crank.
Two lateral plates permit perfect
unwinding of the coil. The standard
speed of 35 m/min is regulated by
a dancer shaft.
Accessories:
A hydraulically actuated loading
block for strip widths of 1250 mm
and 1600 mm and a maximum
load-carrying capacity of 5000 kg.
The block and the height adjust-
ment are operated hydraulically.
Thanks to the special design, the
overall machine hight is low.
2 Slitting machine
The slitting machine of the Mini
Service Centre assembly is avail-
able in strip widths of 1250 mm and
1600 mm for sheet thicknesses of
1.25 mm and 1.5 mm iron sheet
(400 N/mm2). The slitting machine
can be configured either without
straightening unit or with 5 or 7
straightening rollers. The machine
runs in the middle at a speed of 35
m/min, ensuring that the cutting
force is ideally distributed. The slit-
ting blades can be mechanically
clamped and are quickly adjusted
by hand to the required strip width
(minimum slitting width is 70 mm).
Accessories:
Foil holder, additional slitting
blades.
3 Recoiler
The recoiler of the Mini Service
Centre assembly is available in strip
widths of 1250 mm and 1600 mm
and for maximum carrying-load ca-
pacity of 5000 kg. The sheet strips
are wound tightly by means of a
pneumaticfeltbrake;theseparat-
ing discs ensure that the strips are
wound true and not misaligned.
The minimum strip width that can
be wound is 75 mm.
4 Scrap coiler
Stepped arrangement with cen-
tral electric motor. The finger
moves constantly back and forth
to distribute the rest of the strip
evenly over the mandrel. The
maximum strip width is 25 mm.
The winding speed of 35 m/min is generated by an electric drive and con-
trolled via a dancer shaft. The maximum steel sheet thickness that can be
wound with the Jorns coiler is 1.5 mm (400 N/mm2).
Accessories:
A hydraulically actuated unloading block for strip widths of 1250 mm and
1600 mm and a maximum load-carrying capacity of 5000 kg. The block
