RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

2009 – 2012. Conducting and Managing research on Analysis of African Medicinal plants. We

emphasize on conducting research that will lead to incooperation of African alternative

Medicine into modern medicine.

The project is yet to be funded

2004 – 2012. Conducting and Managing research on molecular inhibition of pro inflammatory

products and their receptors at the gene expression level in an effort to circumvent the

progression of asthma. We emphasize on the use of antisense oligonucleotide as

well as RNA interference technology to achieve these goals.

The project has been funded by. NIH for the last three years Another

component dealing with Identification of Eotaxin 3 regulated proteins has been

awarded under NIB R15 grant.

2002 – 2012. Conducting and Managing research on the use of CTP: Phospholcholine

Cytidyltransferase (CCT) dominant negative domains and vector based siRNA as a

possible cure for lung cancer

The project has been submitted for funding to NIH MBRS grant

and funded by inhouse RCMI grant

1998 – 2012. Conducting and Managing research on SNARE proteins with surfactant secretion.

The project was funded by NIB for a period of 5 years under

supervision of Dr. Lin Liu of Oklahoma State University.

A project entitled Mechanisms of eotaxin secretion which is

related to SNARE work has been submitted for NIH R03

grant.

1997 – 1998. Conducted and Managed research on PDZ domains and translocation of defective

chloride channel from the basolateral to the apical membrane in an effort to solve cystic

fibrosis disease condition.

This proposition was funded by NIB under Dr. Bruce Stanton at Dartmouth

College.

1995 – 1997. Conducted Research on molecular aspects of Nile Perch oocytes. The project gave

birth to Lake Victoria Institute in Maseno University in Kenya that concentrates on

Lake Victoria biodiversity to date.

1990 – 1992. Conducted an undergraduate project on food habits and habitats of different species of

Tilapia in Lake Naivasha, Kenya. The project provided the first documentation of the

different types of foods the fish thrives on. The knowledge was useful for fish farmers

who have since aggressively embarked on aquaculture of Tilapia.
