我們十分歡迎閣下出席香港聖樂團今天的音樂會，今次演出的主題是「貝多芬的平安與喜樂」,

演出的經典作品包括貝多芬《第九號交響曲合唱 - 歡樂頌》的第三及第四樂章，為女高音獨唱及

樂隊的舒伯特作品《歡樂頌》及古諾作品《加利亞》(香港首演)。

聯同我們一起演出的，除了香港弦樂團外，還邀請到聖公會林護紀念中學舊生合唱團、Good Hope Singers及香港大學學生會管弦樂團共同演出，由優秀音樂家及著名學者梁卓偉教授作客席指揮。

這次成功演出有賴於200多位演出者，過去數月努力的成果。

香港聖樂團團員深信演出優雅的聖樂能帶給歌唱者和聽眾無限的喜樂，提高個人素質，並提供市

民優質的精神文化生活。

在過去的58年，香港聖樂團除了在香港舉行無數的音樂會外，也在世界各地巡迴演出，令成千上萬

的聽眾，如我們的眾團員一樣，享受了令人振奮的悅耳聖樂。

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to this evening’s concert with the theme Beethoven’s Peace & Joy. We will perform movements III and IV of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 Choral – Ode to Joy. In addition, we will also perform Schubert’s An die Freude for solo soprano and orchestra, and Gounod’s Gallia which is a Hong Kong Premiere. We are particularly pleased that the Hong Kong Oratorio Society (HKOS), together with the Hong Kong Strings and Union Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong University Student Union, is joined by the SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School Alumni Choir and Good Hope Singers, under the baton of the gifted musician and eminent academic Professor Gabriel Leung. This concert is the culmination of the hard work of some 200 performers!

The HKOS members believe that singing beautiful oratorio music would bring immense joy to the singers and the listeners alike. It further helps to enhance our personal quality and provides listeners with a rich spiritual experience and cultural life.

During the past 58 years, the Hong Kong Oratorio Society has presented hundreds of concerts not only in Hong Kong but has made numerous overseas concert tours. Tens of thousands of audiences have enjoyed, like our members, the uplifting experience of fine oratorio music.

I hope you will enjoy this evening‘s concert. The Hong Kong Oratorio Society will continue to bring good music and new talents to our audiences in future.

客席指揮 Guest Conductor

梁卓偉教授Prof. Gabriel M. Leung

梁卓偉曾以男童高音、鋼琴手、敲擊樂手及指揮身分巡迴於國內、亞洲、澳大利亞、歐洲及北美多國

著名音樂廳演出。身為教育工作者、他認為音樂是發展兒童智能、社交及情緒素質的其中主要媒體、

他這套兒童音樂教育哲學深受學生及家長的讚賞。

梁氏於九零年代出任加拿大葉氏兒童合唱團的首席指揮及音樂總監、亦為加拿大音樂比賽樂團的創團

指揮、及多次擔任Cathedral Bluffs交響樂團的客席指揮。

梁氏曾當選加拿大音樂比賽（多倫多）的聯席主席及藝術總監、和安大略省合唱聯會董事。自九九年

回港後、梁氏屢獲學界及音樂界邀請出任管弦樂團及合唱團指揮。他除擔任香港兒童交響樂團榮譽客

席指揮和香港大學學生會管弦樂團首席指揮外、亦以客席指揮身分，多次參與泛亞交響樂團、香港聖

樂團及Good Hope Singers的演出。他曾任香港小交響樂團董事會成員、現任香港管弦樂團及亞洲青年

管弦樂團董事會成員。

梁氏現為香港大學李嘉誠醫學院院長。

As a boy soprano, pianist, percussionist and conductor, Gabriel Leung’s concert appearances have taken him to most of the major music centres in Asia, Australasia, Europe and North America, as well as locally and on the mainland. As an educator, his pedagogical philosophy of a renaissance education for all young people, with music as a medium to develop intellectual, social and emotional qualities have won praises from students and parents alike.

Throughout the 1990s, Leung served as Chief Conductor and Director of Yip’s Children’s Choir (Canada). He was founding conductor of the Canadian Music Competitions Orchestra and a frequent guest conductor of the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra. Leung had been elected Co-President and Artistic Director of Canadian Music Competitions (Toronto) and to the Board of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation.

Since his return to Hong Kong, Leung has been in constant demand as a choral clinician and orchestral conductor. He is Honorary Guest Conductor of the Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra and Principal Conductor of the University of Hong Kong Union Philharmonic Orchestra. He has made frequent guest appearances with Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Oratorio Society and Good Hope Singers. He previously served on the Board of Governors of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and is a current board member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic and the Asian Youth Orchestra.

Leung is Dean of the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong.

阮妙芬是亞洲其中一位最卓著和最扣人心弦的女高音歌唱家，她以優越的成績畢業於倫敦皇家音樂學

院，畢業後即獲威爾斯國立歌劇團邀請作首個歌劇演出，並飾演《蝴蝶夫人》的主角，大獲好評，奠

定了她在國際歌劇界的地位。此後，阮氏常被邀到世界各地演出此角，其中有英國國家歌劇團、北愛

爾蘭歌劇團、西澳大利亞歌劇團、昆士蘭歌劇團、新加坡歌劇團、曼谷歌劇團、紐西蘭國際藝術節和

巴布達歌劇節，她又於1998至2003年期間為雷民谷比公司在著名的皇家愛爾拔堂演出。

阮氏曾演出的歌劇主角包括《波斯國王薛西斯》的羅米爾達、《茶花女》的薇奧列達、《阿依達》、

《弄臣》的姬達、《仲夏夜之夢》的蒂塔尼亞、《蝙蝠》的羅莎蓮黛、《小丑情淚》的妮達、

作為一位著名的歌唱家和音樂藝術家，阮妙芬經常與樂團和合唱團一起演出，她亦與多位國際著名音

過的交響樂團有倫敦莫札特樂團、英國廣播公司交響樂團、新加坡交響樂團、迪沃利交響樂團和上海

在教育方面，阮妙芬曾到臺灣、馬來西亞、新加坡和中國等地教授大師班。2007年出任第59屆香港校

際音樂節評判，亦是2009年德國布裏曼歌劇團籌辦的比賽評委之一。

阮氏曾執導之歌劇包括‧薩列裡的《音樂至上》、莫札特的《試情記》、《魔笛》選段、《風流寡

婦》、《仲夏夜之夢》和《朱利奧．西薩爾》。

2011年，阮氏於倫敦擔任歌劇《Mae Naak》女主角；亦為香港歌劇院之大型歌劇《中山．逸仙》的

世界首演飾演宋慶齡。2012年與新加坡歌劇團合作，於《唐．喬望尼》中演唐納．安娜一角。2013

年，她替暹羅歌劇團的威爾第歌劇《奧賽羅》首次擔綱黛絲德蒙娜一角;並與新加坡歌劇團重演《茶

花女》中的薇奧列達。阮氏於2003年至2010年擔任新加坡南洋藝術學院音樂系聲樂部主任。2010年3

月起出任香港演藝學院聲樂系系主任。

U.K.educated, Singaporean soprano Nancy Yuen, has made Cio-cio-san (Madama Butterfly) her signature role winning great international critical acclaim immediately upon graduation from London’s Royal Academy of Music. She made her operatic debut in this demanding Puccini’s title heroin with the Welsh National Opera and has since repeated the role all over the world, notably with the English National Opera, West Australian Opera, Opera Queensland, Opera Northern Ireland, Singapore Lyric Opera, the 1994 New Zealand International Festival of Arts, the 1995 Barbados Opera Festival and the Royal Albert Hall production by David Freeman for Raymond Gubbay Limited in 1998, 2000 and 2003.

Other operatic roles include Romilda (Xerxes) with the English National Opera; Violetta (La Traviata) with the Welsh National Opera, Singapore Lyric Opera and London City Opera; Aida with Kentish Opera and Dublin Lyric Opera Productions; Gilda (Rigoletto), Tytania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Rosalinda (Die Fledermaus), Nedda (I Pagliacci), Siok Imm (Bunga Mawar), Leonora (Il Trovatore), Antonia (Les contes D’Hoffmann), Countessa (Le Nozze di Figaro), Liu (Turandot) and the title role of Tosca with the Singapore Lyric Opera; Liza (The Queen of Spades), with Kentish Opera; Mimi (La Boheme) with the London City

Equally at home on the concert platform, she has a wide recital and concert repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary and performs regularly at the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Barbican Concert Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall in the U.K. and abroad in Europe, the United States, the Middle East and Asia. The many orchestras she has sung with include the London Mozart Players, the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Tivoli Symphony Orchestra and most recently the West Australia Symphony Orchestra. Notable musicians she has worked with include, Placido Domingo, Carlo Rizzi, Richard Armstrong, Trevor Pinnock, Christopher Hogwood and Helmuth Rilling. She has also recorded for the BBC, Radio Television Hong Kong and Radio FM, New Zealand. She has performed the soprano solos in the Messiah, Creation, Seasons, Nelson Mass, Christmas Oratorio, Carmina Burana, Elijah, Monteverdi’s Vespers, Mozart’s Requiem and Mass in C Minor, Poulenc’s Gloria, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, the Brahms’, Faure’s and Verdi’s Requiem, Mahler’s 4th and 8th Symphony and Janacek’s Glagolitic Mass.

In recent years, special operatic roles have been written for Nancy’s unique lyric soprano voice. In the 2005 Singapore Arts Festival, she sang the role of Princess Han Li Bao in the world premiere of operatic cantata Zheng He, specially written for her by Law Wai Lun, commissioned by the Singapore Chinese Orchestra. In the same year she also repeated the title role of Mae Naak with Bangkok Opera, a coloratura role created for her by Somtow Sucharitkul in 2003. In 2006 she sang Sita, the second operatic role written for her by Mr. Sucharitkul in his opera Ayodhya.

In 2011 she sang Mae Naak with Opera Siam in Bangkok and London and made her debut with Opera Hong Kong in the role of Soong Ching-ling in the world premiere of newly commissioned opera, Dr. Sun Yat-sen. In 2012 she sang Donna Anna with Singapore Lyric Opera and in 2013 she made her role debut as Desdemona in Otello with Opera Siam as well as reprised her role as Violetta with SLO. She performs in concerts regularly in South East Asia. Nancy was the Head of Vocal Studies at Singapore Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts from 2003 to February 2010. She joins the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts as Head of Vocal Studies in March 2010.

張吟晶Samantha CHONG

女中音張吟晶出生於馬來西亞。張氏2010年在演藝學院完成音樂學士學位後，受Aedas Architect 公司

全力贊助前往澳洲交流，成為墨爾本歌劇工作室2010／2011年度的學員。張氏現正攻讀碩士，師隨著

名女高音阮妙芬小姐。

張氏的演出經驗豐富且多元化，演出的歌劇角色包括《風流寡婦》的女主角漢娜，《卡門》的梅思蒂

思，《波佩亞的加冕》的德魯西亞，《狡猾的小狐狸》的鬃毛雄狐，以及《費加洛的婚禮》的凱魯比

諾。2013年5月首度為香港聖樂團擔任女低音獨唱，同年於非凡美樂製作《弄臣》里擔任伯爵夫人。

2014年5月將會參與香港歌劇院《浮士德》的演出，擔任瑪塔一角。

張氏現為香港演藝學院碩士生，並擔任青少年課程聲樂導師。張氏在演藝學院學習期間，多次獲得各

項獎學金，包括FAMA獎學金，凱達獎學金，及 John Hosier Trust 獎學金。

Mezzo-soprano Samantha Chong received professional vocal training at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, graduating with a Bachelor of Music degree. Chong is a highly versatile singer who embraces a wide range of repertoire and opera roles. She has sung Hannah Glawari in Merry Widow, Mercedes in Carmen, Drusilla in The Coronation of Poppea, Fox the Goldenmane in The Cunning Little Vixen, and she will appear as Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro in March 2014.

Chong was a recipient of the FAMA scholarship and has also been awarded a full scholarship from the Opera Studio Melbourne. She was engaged in the Studio’s performance practice starting from 2010 to 2011. Her training in Melbourne is fully supported by the Aedas architect group. Samantha sang the role of Countess Ceprano in December 2013 in Musica Viva’s Rigoletto and will sing Marthe Schwerlein in Opera Hong Kong’s Faust in May 2014.

譚天樂Alex TAM

譚天樂身兼男高音，指揮及作曲家，畢業於倫敦皇家音樂學院及香港演藝學院歌劇課程。譚氏曾在各

地歌劇和其他製作中擔任要角，十九歲即演出普契尼《強尼．斯基基》中的雷諾喬一角，大獲好評；

隨後亦於出其歌劇擔任重要角色，如《西維爾的理髮師》、《女人心》、《愛情靈藥》、《軍團的女

兒》、《地獄中的奧爾菲斯》、《莫札特與薩埃耶理》、《杜蘭朵》、《被出賣的新娘》、《蝴蝶夫

人》等。

譚天樂在不少音樂會中擔任獨唱，包括跟利靈大師合作，巴赫的《B小調彌撒曲》和莫札特的《C小調

彌撒曲》及巴赫的《聖母頌歌》和《聖馬太受難曲》，貝多分的《莊嚴彌撒曲》、《第九交響樂》，

莫札特的《安魂曲》，安德魯洛伊韋伯的《安魂曲》，契考特的《安魂曲》，韓德爾的《猶大馬加比

亞》和《彌賽亞》，及奧爾夫的《卡圖利之歌》。在2000年的法國五月節，他獲邀請與傑出的法國女

高音伊利沙伯．維度攜手合作舉辦演唱會。2002及2013年香港藝術節，亦被邀請演出巴哈的《咖啡清

唱劇》和歌劇《蕭紅》。

譚氏現為香港歌劇院合唱總監，香港演藝學院合唱團指揮，及其聲樂導師，亦任教於香港兒童合唱

團。

Graduated from the Opera Course at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the HKAPA, opera singer, conductor & composer. Alex has taken leading roles in operas and concerts worldwide. He performed his first major operatic role at the age of 19 as Rinuccio Gianni Schcchi, followed by leading roles in The Barber of Seville, Cosi fan Tutte, L’elisir D’amore, La Fille du Regiment, Orphée aux enfers, Mozart und Salieri, Turandot, The Bartered Bride, Madama Butterfly, and many others.

Alex appeared as a soloist in Bach’s ‘Mass in B minor’ & Mozart’s ‘Mass in C’ with Maestro Helmuth Rilling, Bach’s ‘Magnificat’ and ‘St. Matthew Passion’, Beethoven’s ‘Missa Solemnis’, ‘The Ninth Symphony’, Lloyd Webber's 'Requiem', Mozart’s ‘Requiem’, Handel’s ‘Judas Macabeaus’ and ‘Messiah’, Karl Orff’s ‘Catulli Camina’, and Bob Chilcott’s ‘Requiem’. In Le French May 2000, Alex was invited to give a duo concert with the French soprano Elisabeth Videl. Alex has also been invited to perform leading roles in the Hong Kong Arts Festival 2002 & 2013, for ‘Coffee Cantata’ and a contemporary chamber opera ‘Heart of Coral’.

Alex is currently conducting the Opera Hong Kong Chorus, HKAPA Choir, Hong Kong Children’s choir, as well as a voice teacher at the HKAPA.

黃日珩Apollo WONG

黃日珩，男低中音及指揮，現任學士合唱團及學士管弦樂團音樂總監。演出包括伯恩斯坦《奇切斯特

聖歌》、莫札特《安魂曲》、普羅高菲夫《亞歷山大．湼夫斯基》、馬勒《第八交響曲》、威爾第

《安魂彌撒曲》及拉赫曼尼諾夫《鐘聲》。曾任香港新青年合唱團及香港歌劇院兒童合唱團音樂總

監。曾指揮唐尼采蒂《愛情靈藥》；擔任阿普雷亞助理指揮，演出普契尼《波希米亞生涯》、香港兒

童合唱團音樂劇《豆芽夢》首席音樂顧問；指揮香港歌劇院歌劇夏令營製作《魔笛》和《海盜王》；

在台北巴赫音樂節獲瑞霖指導，指揮台北愛樂合唱團和長榮交響樂團。

黃君曾演出的歌劇角色包括布列頓《艾拔賀寧》的警官布特和《仲夏夜之夢》的博托姆、韓德爾《橋

王闖情關》的阿里奧達、古諾《羅密歐與朱麗葉》的羅倫斯神甫和公爵及陳慶恩《蕭紅》首演的魯

迅。

黃君曾於棕櫚泉歌劇協會聲樂比賽奪冠及羸得柏薩迪納歌劇協會獎學金。

Bass-baritone and conductor Apollo Wong is currently Music Director of the Learners Chorus and the Learners Orchestra. Recent performances include Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Mozart’s Requiem, Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky, Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, Verdi’s Messa da Requiem and Rachmaninoff’s The Bells. Wong has worked as Music Director of the Hong Kong Youth Choir and Opera Hong Kong Children’s Chorus. He has conducted Donizetti’s opera L’elisir d’amore, and was the assistant conductor of Bruno Aprea in Puccini’s La Bohème, principal musical advisor of Hong Kong Children’s Choir musical Magical Beanland and conductor of Opera Hong Kong Summer Opera Camp productions of The Magic Flute and The Pirates of Penzance.

Wong has sung various operatic roles, including Superintendent Budd and Bottom in Britten’s Albert Herring and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ariodate in Handel’s Serse, Frère Laurent and Le Duc in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, Lu Xun in Chan Hing Yan’s Heart of Coral, premiered in 2013 Hong Kong Arts Festival. Wong has won first places in Palm Springs Opera Guild Vocal Competition and the Pasadena Opera Guild Vocal Scholarship.

香港聖樂團Hong Kong Oratorio Society香港聖樂團為一非牟利團體，於 1956 年由黃明東先生及一群音樂愛好者組成。他們深信演唱優

雅的音樂能帶給歌者和聽眾喜樂，提高個人素質，並提供市民優質的精神與文化生活。

香港聖樂團從幾名音樂愛好者發展到現今擁有過百名不同國籍的團員，經歷了幾代音樂大師的領導，

已成為香港歷史最悠久和最活躍的合唱團。每年平均舉辦五至六場音樂會，過去多年已舉辦了超過

三百多場音樂會，演唱古典和近代作曲家所寫的神曲和大型合唱作品，包括巴赫、韓德爾、海頓、莫

扎特、孟德爾遜、冼星海、黃自等經典創作，其中許多是香港首演。

香港聖樂團最擅長演繹富戲劇性內容的神曲 (oratorio) ，故取名 Oratorio Society。並積極委約華人作

曲家創作合唱曲，當中包括陳永華、陳偉光及黃安倫。香港聖樂團自 1996 年至今，共出版了五張鐳射

唱片，作全球發行，均獲得高度評價。

香港聖樂團的創團指揮為黃飛然老師，後由黃永熙博士歷任首席指揮及榮譽指揮，自1995 年由陳永

華教授應邀擔任音樂總監兼指揮，現任榮譽贊助人為香港特首夫人梁唐青儀女士。

香港聖樂團常在不同的指揮名家帶領下演唱，曾合作的包括嚴良堃、閻惠昌、陳佐湟、邵恩、俞峰、

陳澄雄、張藝、曹丁、張毓君、陳晃相、符潤光、蘇明村、楊炤燁、官美如、Sir David Wilcox、Veiga Jardim、趙伯承、梁卓偉等。亦曾多次前往海外演唱，足跡遍達加拿大、以色列、菲律賓、韓國、臺

灣、新加坡等地，並數度應邀在中國多個主要城市演出經典曲目。曾與多個職業樂團合作，包括北京

中央芭蕾舞交響樂團、深圳交響樂團、澳門樂團、臺灣省立交響樂團、香港小交響樂團、香港管弦樂

團、香港中樂團、香港城市室樂團及香港弦樂團，均合作愉快。

香港聖樂團的百位團員皆為業餘音樂愛好者，團務由周年團員大會中選出的團員組成執行委員會管

理。音樂總監及榮譽會長為執行委員會的當然委員。全體委員以義務工作形式參與，並得數名社會賢

達慷慨贊助經費。香港聖樂團將繼續不遺餘力地為香港社會製作及演出優質的合唱音樂。

The Hong Kong Oratorio Society (HKOS) is a non-profit-making organization founded in 1956 by Mr Wong Ming Tung and a group of music enthusiasts who believed that choral singing and music would bring joy to the singers and the listeners alike, as well as enhancing the personal quality and enriching the spiritual and cultural life of the audience.

From a humble start of a handful of music enthusiasts to over a hundred members with different nationalities, the HKOS guided by generations of great musicians has become the most active choir with the longest history and the largest membership in Hong Kong. It usually presents five to six concerts per year with a total of more than three hundred concerts presented over the past years. Its repertoire covers oratorios and major choral works by classical and contemporary composers including the masterpieces of Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Mendelssohn and Chinese composers Xian Xinghai and Huang Zi, etc. Many of these works were debuted in Hong Kong.

HKOS takes its name from its favourite genre of repertoire, the oratorio, which refers to extended choral works with religious or mythological stories. In recent years, HKOS has commissioned composers Chan Wing-wah, Victor Chan and Huang An-lun to compose pieces for its performance. From 1996, HKOS has also produced five CD recordings distributed worldwide.

The first conductor of the choir was Mr. Frank Huang who was then succeeded by Dr Wong Wing-hee serving as Principal Conductor and Conductor Emeritus for many years before retiring. The present Music Director, Prof. Chan Wing-wah took over the baton after a few successful collaborations with HKOS since 1995. The current Honorary Patron is Mrs. Regina LEUNG, wife of CY Leung, Chief Executive of The Government of HKSAR.

HKOS has performed under the baton of many famous conductors including Yan Liang-kun, Yan Hui-chang, Chen Zuo-huang, Shao En, Yu Feng, Chen Tscheng-hsiung, Zhang Yi, Cao Ding, Andrew Cheung, Jimmy Chan, Raymond Fu, Allison So, Angela Yeung, Carmen Koon, Sir David Wilcox, Veiga Jardim, Patrick Chiu, Gabrial Leung, etc. The Central Ballet Symphony Orchestra of Beijing, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Macao Orchestra, Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Strings had all collaborated with the HKOS. HKOS has also gone on overseas tours to Canada, Israel, the Philippines, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore as well as many major cities in Mainland China.

HKOS members are keen music lovers and enjoy singing. Its planning and execution are managed by an executive committee on a non-remunerative basis elected by members at its annual general meetings. The Music Director and Honorary President are ex-officio members of the Executive Committee. The concerts are supported by several generous patrons. HKOS will endeavour to continue its contribution to the Hong Kong muisc arena through the production and performance of fine choral music for the community.

Good Hope Singers 由一群希望能為社會作出貢獻，而同時又能享受歌唱樂趣的德望中學舊生合唱團

員組成。在母校關愛下成長的我們，懷著感恩的心，藉著我們對音樂的熱誠，希望將愛傳頌。Good Hope Singers 已於二零零九年十二月二十三日註冊成為香港合法善機構。

我們的目標

在母校－德望學校的支持下，我們確立了以下目標：

(1) 提升香港的音樂教育

(2) 支持發掘及培養香港音樂人才

(3) 藉音樂，以喜樂和感恩的心，唱出事奉之美

(4) 透過音樂活動為指定的善團體籌款

(5) 支持聖母無原罪傳教女修會及德望學校的善工作

Good Hope Singers已舉辦了“Evergreen”，“Seasons of Love”,“Love In Action”和“My Rainbow”四場籌款音樂會，向受助團體捐助善款。亦設立了音樂獎支持每年的香港學校音樂及朗誦

About Good Hope SingersGood Hope Singers is a group of past members of the Good Hope School Choir who shares the mission of serving our community while enjoying our singing. We recognize that we have been richly endowed by our Good Hope education. We also deeply appreciate the special gifts we have received through our choir training from our dedicated music teachers. We are the fruits of many years of labor of love at Good Hope School that can be better shared for the larger good of the Hong Kong Community.

We would like to do whatever little that we can do to help spread love and help the needy. We believe that with our passion in music directed at charitable works, we give a deeper meaning, not only to our singing, but also to our lives. It is for these reasons that we established Good Hope Singers as a charitable organization on December 23, 2009 under the laws of Hong Kong.

Our ObjectivesFormed under the auspices of our mother school, we are set to pursue the following objectives:(1) To promote and advance music education in Hong Kong at all levels;(2) To support the development of Hong Kong music talents;(3) To promote the Christian spirit of joy and thanksgiving and to share the love of God through music; (4) To raise funds through music activities and give donations to designated charitable organizations; (5) To support The Missionary Sisters of Immaculate Conception and Good Hope School in their

charitable works.

Good Hope Singers has organized 4 major concerts, “Evergreen”, “Seasons of Love”, “Love In Action” and “My Rainbow”. All proceeds received were directed at charitable works or donated to other charitable organizations in Hong Kong. We also produced live recordings, set up music scholarships benefitting the annual Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Festival. In addition, we have also contributed through voluntary works to the society and participated in other charity activities in Hong Kong, reaching people in need. Good Hope Singers endeavors ourselves to continue singing with passion and contributing to the Community; however humble our effort maybe.

聖公會林護紀念中學舊生合唱團SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School Alumni Choir二零零五年，時值聖公會林護紀念中學三十五周年校慶，八十名熱愛歌唱的校友成立舊生合唱團。在

指揮及各團員的努力下，舊生合唱團的首演取得空前成功，觀眾反應熱烈。

合唱團多次獲邀於學校周年音樂會作客席演出。於二零一零年，林護中學四十周年校慶音樂會中，舊

生合唱團聯同學校混聲合唱團、管弦樂團攜手合作，演出韓德爾神曲《彌賽亞》選段──哈利路亞，

為音樂會掀起高潮。前年，合唱團再度獲邀於2012林護仲夏音樂會作客席演出。

隨着更多團員投身音樂事業，如擔任指揮、獨唱以及伴奏的工作，合唱團的表現漸漸成熟。舊生合唱

團的排練及演出促進團員交流音樂愛好，同時向觀眾分享團員對音樂的熱誠。

The SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School Alumni Choir, founded in 2005 when the school celebrated its 35th Anniversary, is now a thriving group of 80 passionate singers. Composed of alumni graduated in recent 20 years, the choir performs both sacred and secular repertoire from contemporary and historic composers. Its debut in the Lam Woo 35th Anniversary Concert, under the baton of Ms Lee, was well-received.

Since then, the choir regularly performs at the school anniversary concerts, including the Lam Woo 40th Anniversary Concert and the Lam Woo Summer Concert 2012. In the Lam Woo 40th Anniversary Concert, the choir joined together with the School Mixed Voice Choir and School Orchestra to perform Hallelujah from Handel’s Messiah as a finale to the concert.

With many new music talents emerged in the choir recently, while some have taken up the role of conductors, soloists and accompanists, the choir is devoted to sharing their affection for choral music across generations.

香港弦樂團Hong Kong Strings香港弦樂團成立於1998 年，宗旨是推廣古典音樂欣賞和普及市民對傳統西洋樂器的認識。樂團由多位

本地音樂家組成，所有團員均經過多年嚴格的專業訓練，主要成員畢業於香港演藝學院、中文大學及

海外多間著名大學音樂系，現職香港小交響樂團、香港城市室樂團及音樂事務處兼職導師等。

作為專業樂手，樂團成員均有豐富演出經驗，個別成員更曾到世界各地作文化交流，並活躍於室樂演

奏及音樂製作。

香港弦樂團主力透過小組示範音樂會，提高市民對音樂藝術的興趣。示範音樂會一般在中小學、商

場、香港文化中心及幅利團體會址舉行，內容著重示範演奏、樂器介紹、樂曲及作曲家解說。近年，

樂團亦屢次獲邀參與香港聖樂團及香港大學專業進修學院的音樂會。

Hong Kong Strings was founded in early 1998 comprising many enthusiastic local musicians. Members are mainly graduates of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Chinese University of Hong Kong and reputable music conservatories in US and Europe. Some of them are members of Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Hong Kong City Chamber and some are part-time instructors of the Music Office.

As professional musicians, members of Hong Kong Strings have vast experience in performing locally and also overseas through cultural exchange activities. They are actively involved in chamber music performances and music productions.

Hong Kong Strings is dedicated to promote music to the public through demonstration concerts. These concerts are held in primary and secondary schools, shopping malls, HK Cultural Centre and venue of different social welfare organizations. These concerts include demonstration of instruments and their playing characteristics, explanation on music history, composing style and also interesting stories about the composers. In recent years, Hong Kong Strings have been invited by Hong Kong Oratorio Society and HKU SPACE to perform in their concerts.

Gallia《加利亞》古諾 Charles Gounod (1818 - 1893)

法國於一八七零年在色當之役戰敗了，法皇拿破崙三世被虜，而

法蘭西第二帝國瓦解，古諾隨之移到英國居住。他在居英時被委

約為一八七一年的倫敦國際博覽會創作音樂，因而寫成了「加利

亞」這套哀歌。

古諾取材於耶利米哀歌第一章的經文撰寫了歌詞，又採用了傳統

哀歌改由何西阿書的終曲合唱，以耶利米亞先知所述耶路撒冷的

淒涼狀況來代表戰敗後法國的苦難。正如他後來描述此哀歌，他

想描繪出一個不僅是一個被征服、擊碎的法國，而是真正由她敵

人的傲慢和殘酷，侵害及欺辱了的法國。

「加利亞」分為四部份；由開始的合唱曲描繪出耶路撒冷的淒慘情景。跟隨的抒情曲以女

高音獨唱和合唱團的對比唱出被蹂躪的耶路撒冷對神的不敬。第三部份用了獨唱和合唱，

哀求神大發慈悲，而終曲合唱懇求人民歸向上帝。

When France lost the Battle of Sedan with the capture of Emperor Napoleon III in 1870 and the collapse of the Second Empire, Gounod left France to live in England. There he was commissioned to write some music for the International Exhibition in 1871 and produced this lamentation motet, Gallia.

Using quotes from the Book of Lamentations as the source and incorporating the traditional final chorus adapted from Hosea, Gounod used the desolation of Jerusalem as described by the prophet Jeremiah to represent a France “not only conquered, crushed, but outraged, … insulted, violated by the insolence and brutality of her enemy.” (as he later wrote about this work).

Gallia is divided into four parts, with the initial chorus describing the desolation of Jerusalem. The Cantilena which follows juxtaposes the soprano solo with the chorus to bring out the impiety of the ravaged Jerusalem. The third section employs chorus and solo to plead for God’s mercy whilst the final chorus urges the people to return to God.

兩首以席勒的歡樂頌為題材的作品Two musical settings of Schiller’s Ode an die Freude

德國詩人席勒於一七八五年寫了歡樂頌，後在一八零三年重新出版這作品時，修改了一些字句，成為

了今晚音樂會獻上的兩首作品歌詞的素材。其實自歡樂頌出版後，很多作曲家把它編成歌曲，但大部

分都採用了一部曲式。正如一位樂評於一八一八年在萊比錫普通音樂期刊所寫，歡樂頌不適宜以編成

一部曲式的歌曲，因為其中的詩節包含太豐富的素材，而一部曲式不能完全表達這些各種各樣的變

化。該樂評提議把這詩創作成一首貫穿式的藝術歌曲。今晚音樂會的兩首作品卻沒有採取樂評的提議

— 我們先演出一首一部曲式的藝術歌曲，然後獻上歡樂頌，一套四聲獨唱、合唱和管絃樂團合奏的

傑作。

Friedrich Schiller wrote the Ode an die Freude in 1785, revising it on republication in 1803, and it is this later version which forms the basis of the libretto to both the musical settings of this evening’s concert. The Ode was popular amongst composers but many have set it as a strophic song, which as observed by a critic in the Leipziger Allgemeine Musikalische Zeitung in April 1818, is unsatisfactory due to the great diversity of material in various stanzas, with which the strophic form cannot cope. The advocated solution from this critic was to make it into a through composed Lied. However, neither of tonight’s offerings followed the critic advice, with a strophic Lied juxtaposed against the definitive setting of the Ode as a choral tour de force with solo quartet and orchestral accompaniment.

An die Freude《歡樂頌》舒伯特 Franz Schubert (1797 - 1828)

一八一五年是舒伯特出產極多的一年，創作了一百四十多首藝術歌

曲，其中包括這首歡樂頌。他只用了席勒詩詞的首三段，為獨唱

（或單聲合唱）譜寫了一首一部曲式而帶有副歌的作品。這首活潑

的作品雖然在舒伯特十八歲時創作，卻在他離世後於一八二九年出

版。我們特別感謝黃學揚先生為今晚的演出編曲。

Schubert composed the setting in 1815, one of his most prolific years in terms of musical output, with some 140 Lieder produced that year. Set for solo voice (or unison choir) the piece, which only uses the first three stanzas of Schiller’s poem, is in the form of strophic Lied with chorus. A lively setting (marked Lebhaft) made when Schubert was only 18, it was published posthumously in 1829. We are very grateful that Mr Alfred WONG has made the orchestral arrangement for tonight’s programme.

貝多芬 Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 - 1827)

雖然貝多芬早於一七九三年已有興趣把席勒的歡樂頌譜為樂曲，

他最終還是在一八二四年創作他的第九交響曲時，才把這首名詩

譜成著名的合唱作品。貝多芬早已在一八零八年，創新地把合唱

曲加插入管弦樂曲內，成為他的合唱幻想曲。他從席勒的作品選

出詩句，重組而編出這不朽各名作。最為人熟識的古典音樂作品

之一，歐盟已將它訂立為其頌歌。有言論指席勒原本是作了一首

自由頌；伯恩斯坦在一九八九年為慶祝柏林圍牆倒下演出這樂曲

時，把「歡樂」改為「自由」。今晚的音樂會將演奏貝多芬第九

交響曲的最後兩樂章。

Although Beethoven had expressed interest in setting Schiller’s Ode to music as early as 1793, it was not until he composed his Ninth Symphony in 1824, a work for which he had previously received a commission, that the most famous setting of the Ode an die Freude was created. Building on the innovation of adding a choral element to an orchestral work which he had done in his Choral Fantasy of 1808, Beethoven selected passage from Schiller’s Ode, rearranged them to create this immortal masterpiece. One of the best known pieces of classical music, it has been adopted as the official anthem of the European Union. It was thought that the original intention of Schiller was to write an ode to freedom and Bernstein substituted freedom (Freiheit) for joy (Freude) in the famous performance to celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Tonight we will present this choral finale together with the preceding third movement.

Founded in 1956, and with a membership of more than a hundred singers and an average of five to six concerts annually, the Hong Kong Oratorio Society can be considered as the longest established, largest, and most active choir in Hong Kong.

Mission : We promote choral singing. Our primary repertoire is oratorio choral music and we also perform a variety of other choral pieces. We aim to enhance the awareness and enjoyment of serious choral music in audiences in Hong Kong.

Oratorio : The term “oratorio” is derived from the oratory of Roman Church in mid 16th Century. It is a difficult word to define since it has taken so many meanings at different periods and in different countries. However, it is generally understood to mean an extended setting of a religious libretto for chorus, orchestra and vocal soloists, either for church or concert performance. It is also commonly understood in the world of music that an oratorio performance does not need scenary, stage, costume and action.

The rehearsals are held at The Hong Kong Cultural Centre on every Tuesday evenings (8 p.m. - 10 p.m.). (Please see details on HKOS's website)

Experienced and talented singers are invited to audition as chorus members.

香港聖樂團成立於一九五六年，團員超過百名，平均

宗旨：本團全力推廣合唱音樂，以神劇合唱曲為主要

演唱曲目，亦會接觸其他合唱音樂。致力提高本地觀

眾對古典合唱音樂的興趣，意願大眾能夠享受箇中樂

趣。

聖樂：香港聖樂團英文名稱中的“Orato r io”，源自

十六世紀羅馬教會的“o r a t o r y”，即小禮拜堂。自

此之後，這個名詞在不同的年代、不同國家有不同的

含義，沒有單一解釋。不過，一般來說，此用詞是概

指帶有宗教意義的樂曲，供合唱團、樂隊、獨唱者演

譯；中文解作「神劇」，凡神劇演出時均無須使用佈

景、舞台、服裝、或動作來配合。

香港聖樂團每星期均有排練，逢星期二晚上（八時至
