DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

SELECT CUSTOMERS AND PARTNERS

“I’ve been filming for years, and I bought a couple of UAVs to attract bigger customers. It worked. I’ve had three massive production houses contact me in the past month, and now I need to figure out the proper authorizations from the FAA.”

Skyward set the standard for regulatory compliance in the Cayman Islands and enabled AirVu to become the first legal commercial operator in the region. Our documentation established the levels of safety and compliance for future operators.

“Skyward has enabled us to obtain our license from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI) and operate our business commercially. As a startup, we would have been lost without . Having them on board is like having a team of UAS experts standing behind us and supporting us through anything we might be presented with in this new dynamic industry!”

Adam Cockerill, Co-Founder

Sky-Futures has engaged Skyward for regulatory consulting and documentation in several jurisdictions, most recently for their Section 333 exemption request in the U.S.

“Sky-Futures, who provide UAS inspections to the Oil and Gas industry globally, engaged with Skyward in order to write their Section 333 Exemption Petition. Skyward’s deep understanding of the complex regulatory environment in the United States was invaluable to ensure that the Sky-Futures Section 333 was both fit for purpose, well reasoned, and ensured the highest chance of success at the first attempt.”

Nick Rogers, Training and Legislation Director

Skyward works closely with Transport Risk Management, widely considered one of the most knowledgable and respected UAV insurance brokers in the U.S.

“There is no question that Skyward maintains a set of core values and behaviors that emphasizes safety as an overriding priority and we are confident that the Skyward systems ensure safety by design and not by luck. It is that commitment to safety that places Skyward in the most desirable class of insurance risks worldwide. We only expect that culture of safety and market desirability to increase in the future.”

Terry Miller, President

“I’m collecting data with my UAV and selling it to farmers. I’m running a safe operation, but I don’t really understand the regulatory requirements. Do I need an SFOC or can I fly under the new Canadian exemptions?”

“We have a massive project and our customer needs precise aerial data. Drones would be perfect, but are they legal? What machines should I use? What kind of training would my staff need? Can I do it myself or do I have to hire out? What do I need to do to get started?”

We have customers in the USA, the UK, Canada, and the Commonwealth Caribbean Islands. Advocating on behalf of these commercial operators has helped us develop close working relationships with the FAA, Transport Canada, and the CAACI – and to gain expertise in their respective regulatory frameworks.

Jonathan Evans, CEOJonathan spent 17 years as a professional pilot, first as a Black Hawk pilot in the U.S. Army and later as a pilot for LifeFlight, an air medical service. He has commercial pilot and flight instructor ratings in airplanes and helicopters.

Wendie Kellington, AttorneyWendie is an expert in land use law and the emerging field of drone law. She is a member of the federal RTCA committee advising on UAV airspace integration. She advises us on regulatory documentation, and reviews our customers’ documentation prior to submission.

Bill Buck, AdvisorBill spent his career with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and recently retired from the position of Airspace Redesign Manager. He sought to ensure a design that would accommodate the implementation of new technology; and continues that work as an advisor to Skyward.

Marcos Osorno, CTOMarcos is a commercially-rated helicopter pilot with flight experience on three continents. He served in the Army as a pilot and maintenance officer for a fleet of 15 Black Hawk helicopters. Later, as a computer scientist, he developed cybersecurity technologies for The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and the NSA.

Paul Lew, Flight OperationsPaul has 14 years of experience designing, manufacturing and operating unmanned aerial systems. He has over 1,200 hours of mission-specific flight operations and over 3,000 hours of operation, testing, and evaluation of dozens of unmanned aerial systems for government agencies and private companies.

Gretchen West, AdvisorWhile serving as AUVSI’s Executive Vice President, Gretchen focused on government relations and advocacy efforts for the unmanned systems industry. She has been at the forefront of advocating for the safe, timely and responsible integration of UAS into the U.S. National Airspace System.

Skyward is a member of the Small UAV Coalition, an industry group that includes members such as Google, Amazon, DJI, 3DR, Parrot, AirWare, and GoPro. We were invited to this group because of our deep understanding of regulatory processes. As a Board Member, we are actively influencing the regulatory frameworks and requirements for UAVs in the U.S.

We are a partner in NASA’s Unmanned Aerial System Traffic Management System (UTM) project, working collaboratively with other leading industry partners to develop the framework for building highways in the sky. Our experts have briefed state and federal panels, including the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.
