Prof Akegbejo- Samsons has worked at UNAAB for over 14 years where he rose from the position of Lecturer ll to his present level. He is a renewable natural resources manager, who has spent over twenty years learning, teaching and writing about the essentials of the management of tropical water resources. He is a highly experienced scholar who had worked as a civil servant, consultant, teacher and a University lecturer. He has a BSc and MSc degrees at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and a DMA from Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS Canada He obtained his PhD in Coastal Resources Management at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. Prof Akegbejo-Samsons primary research interest is in Aquaculture development and coastal resources Management, and has over sixty publications in various areas of fish nutrition, pond water management and coastal resources management. He has held many top level positions in the academia and he is currently the University Representative at the TUNING AFRICA PROJECT. (F) General Research Interests

(a) Utilization of alternative sources of feedstuffs and agro-by products for fish feed with full

emphasis on non-conventional, cheap and affordable ingredients.

(b) Coastal & Marine Studies - Community and local participatory programme.

The exploitation, utilisation and management of these resources can not be separated from the

local coastal communities, hence my focus targets both the resources and the people that

depends on these resources for their existence.

(i)Local aquacultural practices in the coastal communities especially in areas of culture and

management of bivalves, molluscs and migratory fish spp.

(ii) Coastal Community-based Environmental Planning and Legislation.

(iii) Water Resources Management in Coastal Catchment areas.

(iv) Marine Biology & Ecology, Environment and Ecosystem.

(c) Small scale fisheries development and Rural livelihoods empowerment
