Anne-Marie Leroy Senior Vice President and World Bank Group General Counsel

Ethiopis Tafara Vice President and General Counsel International Finance Corporation

Dear Colleagues, Speakers and Participants,

We are pleased to welcome you to Law, Justice and Development Week 2016 (LJD Week). We have an exciting agenda ahead of us. Thank you for attending! Our week will include the following topics:

Climate Change Days. The theme for the first two days of the conference is Law, Climate Change and Development. Sessions will explore legal issues arising in adaptation to the changes shaping our global climate, and issues around mitigation of climate impacts. We are delighted to have President Jim Kim open the conference and Prof. Achim Steiner as keynote speaker.

International Financial Institutions (IFI) Day. On Wednesday, we bring together the General Counsel and lawyers of the world’s international financial institutions to address current legal challenges in development, such as IFIs’ bonds, sanctions, envi-ronmental and social frameworks for investment projects, fraud and corruption, juris-dictional immunity before national courts, and many other topics.

Global Forum Days. The fourth and fifth days are devoted to a broad variety of legal issues related to the sustainable development goals led by partners of the Global Forum on Law, Justice and Development.

World Bank Group Day. Friday is also dedicated to events for lawyers working in the World Bank Group, and is focused on select institutional and operational issues.

In addition to the regular conference program, participants will have opportunities to participate in networking and social events, attend films, and engage in thematic working groups and communities of practice discussions throughout the week.

We would like to express deep appreciation to our sponsors for their generous sup-port, and the Global Forum partners, speakers, moderators and colleagues who have devoted their time, insight and enthusiasm to producing this exciting knowledge sharing event. We look forward to your active participation.

Use of this Service is at the User’s sole risk, and the Bank is not liable for any conduct of any User. Under no circumstances, including, but not limited to, negligence, shall the Bank, be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, even if the Bank has been advised of the possibility of such damages. 4. The User agrees that he/she will not share access credentials with anyone at anytime for any reason.
