Cinematique! was established as a way for students to show their films without the hassle of fees and competition from other filmmakers who have already left education. We want to encourage student filmmakers to create film masterpieces, have the courage to showcase their work, and the freedom to display their films to vast audiences without restrictions. Our aim is to provide such an environment, with the purpose of showcasing what students have to offer in the world of film, as well as allowing those interested in cinema to meet others within a casual setting and make connections for future collaborations. Because of this, we invite directors, producers, screenwriters, actors, so on and so forth to show their work, exhibit their talents, and display what they have to offer within their specific field. We hope to create a network of student filmmakers, by making available the resources of talented student individuals from their respective universities and areas. Cinematique! will run as frequently and as nationally as possible.
“We believe in the possibilities within

Come witness emerging student talent at Cinematique! Student Film Festival Cinematique! Returns on JUNE 22ND 2013 to a brand new space – the ROXY BAR AND SCREEN, in Borough, London. As ever, we have a loaded schedule of student filmmaking plus live music, speakers, competitions and the opportunity to mingle with the creative community. This is a great opportunity for students to get their films screened at a great venue, and in front of a big crowd made up of other film enthusiasts and filmmakers. Entry is free and everyone is welcome. The screenings with start at 7pm on Saturday 22nd June, and the evening will continue on until late (but you’ll still be able to catch the last tubes home, don’t worry!). The films will be projected in a dedicated film room, filled with plush leather couches and candlelit tables. The bar is in a separate room outside the screening area, and drinks deals have been specifically arranged for this night. So you won’t have too dig too deep into your overdrafts to have a good time. Food is also available for order throughout the evening. Don’t forget – everyone (above the age of 18!) is welcome; we are only screening student films, however this doesn’t mean the event (or the drinks deals) are restricted to students.

C! Music
www.cinematique.co.uk
In our true fashion for supporting emerging artists, we’re pleased to announce that A’mie will be playing at the 3rd Cinematique! Student Film Festival. A’mie is a singer and songwriter from South London, England who enjoys both making and performing her own music. She is passionate about this process and ever so controlled with her vocals – giving you just enough to realize her potential whilst keeping a little bit back which, will always leave you wanting to hear more. She performs with her newly formed band which consists drums, bass, saxophone, flute and clarinet. Her music can be described as a mix of influences from Jazz, to Folk to Indie and her musical ideas stem not only from current artists and music trends, but also those from the past. At the moment, Amy is taking time to write new material with diverse musicians, and perform where possible around London. Her credits include performing original material in Sweden, Holland and Germany, gracing the stage at the 02 Shepherds Bush Empire in London some years back for the UK UNSIGNED 2010 Grand Finals as well as singing at Europe’s largest Brazilian Late Night Venue, Guanabara, for the Pardon My Talent competition, earlier this year!

Synopsis: Malaise (2013) is a non-narrative short film and photographic series exploring Beelitz-Heilstätten. Built from 1898 as a sanatorium to care for victims of tuberculosis its intended use soon became distorted, serving as a German military hospital during World War 1 and 2, and Soviet military hospital after World War 2. Prominent historical figures recuperated in the hospital, notably; Adolf Hitler, after being wounded at the Battle of Somme during WW1, as well as Erich Honecker following his dismissal as the head of the East German government. In 1989, the grounds became the scene of 6 murders as necrophilic serial killer Wolfgang Schmidt, also known as "The Beast of Beelitz", terrorised the area. Once considered amongst the most advanced hospitals in Europe, Beelitz-Heilstätten has been abandoned and left to dilapidate due to discrepancies over ownership. Counting over 60 buildings spread over 200 acres, linked via underground tunnels, Malaise delves into a small fraction of the "healing
town", but attempts to convey its unsettling atmosphere through a distinct, yet delicate treatment of colours and tones. The photographic series acts in coalescence with the film, which was shot alongside the photographs and blends subtle camera movements with a selection of still images.

Synopsis: ‘Walking Portraits..’ is an audiovisual piece of a series of walking performances across five London station
areas. It was documented through video, sound and GPS. The mundane and unnoticed details of everyday life become the poetics as Bill Psarras walks and performs a metaphor. The
artist walks by passing from the interior to the exterior of such spaces and vice versa. He follows repetitively different asphalt
patterns, signs and coloured lines - tactic which allows him initiate a sensorial dialogue with these stations. Influenced by Benjamin's metaphor of ''botanizing on the asphalt'', the artist
goes botanizing on the different surfaces and senses inside and outside these daily spaces of transition, which set an
ongoing sensorial dialogue as little topographies are revealed in the porous surface of them.
