Greetings from the Board and the ShipCon Committee

YoungShip Bergen are very excited to be the hosts of the annual ShipCon Conference 2017.

As this year’s hosts we aim to provide our delegates with a platform for networking, where

you can gain further knowledge and insight from industry leaders and meet fellow

YoungShippers from around the globe in Bergen, which in our humble opinion, is the Shipping

Capital of Norway.

ShipCon 2017 is coloured by the last few years’ changes within the global maritime

community. Many segments are experiencing tough times and the cyclical nature of the

maritime business is as evident as ever. One of the key elements to keep afloat and stay in

the game is the ability to adapt, change and alter your perspective. We have seen large

shipping companies merge to become market ‘giants’, friendly alliances and forceful

takeovers. During the conference we will look into the ocean of new opportunities that can

emerge when we change our mind-set, delve deeper into the drivers behind such changes

and how this in turn can create value - even when the market situation is at a low and

conditions for growth are less favourable. Shipping, its history and future opportunities, will

be complementing the topics we have on the agenda for the conference.

We believe the speakers and social events we have lined up for you will encompass the

YoungShip philosophy and cannot wait to spend the conference days together with you!
