Cross-Institutional Course / Subject Enrolment Scheme
• Collaboration between eight UGC-funded institutions in HK
• Access research postgraduate courses and expertise at other universities
• General Information:
– Waived tuition fee
– Submit application through HKIEd before deadline set by host institution
– Required to fully participate in the successfully registered courses
– Official transcript will be issued by host institution upon completion

Candidature ConfirmationBefore the end of first year• Complete all core courses;
• Submit a research proposal of 6,000 – 8,000 words;
• A qualifying presentation of the research proposal within 12 months (+/- 3 months) from admission; and
• Sign a candidature agreement detailing the proposed research training plan and study progress plan.

– Provide outline of the research project and timeline of milestones
• Ethics Clearance Application– All research involving human subjects conducted within the HKIEd
must undergo independent review by the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC)

Studentship• Monthly stipend:
- HK$14,500 for all MPhil and PhD students
- HK$15,000 for post-candidacy PhD students
• Must be a full-time student
• Will not exceed 2 academic years for MPhil and 3 academic years for PhD
• Cease immediately when the holder ceased to be a full-time student or his/her study is terminated by the Institute
• Subject to satisfactory progress (annual review)
• Weekly work related to teaching and/or research
– Prescribed by Head Department /Dean / Centre Director (“Head”)
– On average 10 hours per week
• Additional work
– Max 10 hours (must be related to the research)
– Endorsed by supervisor and approved by “Head”

Postgraduate Students Publication Awards Scheme
• Encourage postgraduate students to produce quality research outputs in the form of journal articles
• HK$5,000, 4,000, and 3,000 for each paper published in (or accepted by) A*, A or B journals respectively
• No limit on the number of papers submitted by a student
• Each paper can only be awarded once
• HK$1,000 for each paper published in (or accepted by) C journal. Each student can only be awarded once
• The student must be sole or first author
