1.1 On Site Progress

Weeks 1 - 4 A letter drop has been carried out to the local residents in the immediate vicinity of the site, the letter explains the nature of the works and the implications of the road closure.

The works on site commenced at the beginning of November starting with the “soft strip” of any unwanted waste that had accumulated on site, and a thorough examination of the area for sharps/needles etc. Once these initial works had been completed a Sumo Survey was carried out to highlight any underground services that traversed the site. A live water connection was discovered which has since been disconnected by United Utilities. A CAT scan of the area has been carried out by the Site Clearance company. All “made up” ground was removed from site, and an area was graded in readiness for the welfare unit. The self-contained welfare unit was delivered and site in the front left-hand corner of the site. All existing concrete slabs have been demolished, as has the brick structure that stood in the front right-hand corner of the site.

We conducted a site visit to the Chinese Pagoda Nursery and agreed access to their car-park to carry out removal of over grown greenery and small trees.

Traffic management has been erected and diversions have been put in place in line with the agreement put in place with LCC. The site hoarding erection has commenced and will be complete by the end of November. Weeks 5 – 10 A meeting has been held on site with LCC and Amey to assess and audit our road closure and site hoarding, a local councilor was also invited to engage with the local community. LCC agreed that we can suspend the “No Entry” to Suffolk Street enabling a 2 way system. Bora conducted the GW site survey to position foundations and also transfer Datum level on to site. The drainage survey was conducted in conjunction with the above, to ascertain inlet levels etc. The area of GL 1-4 was assessed surveyed by waste management company and demarcated appropriately.

Both Bora and Shape conducted trial hole surveys to ascertain position and size of existing foundations on site which support adjacent structures. Following the results, the reduce-level dig commenced, and a substantial amount of allowable waste has been removed from site, in preparation for the foundation dig. Existing lamp-post removed from site. Site survey has been carried out by Scottish Power to assess the removal of the live feed on to site. Branding has been applied to the site hoarding. On site co-ordination meeting held with GW’s, SE’s, MD’s and Concrete supplier. Works planned weeks 10 – 14 Foundation dig to commence Grid Lines 16 - 12 Foundation inspection by Building Control Concrete mass pour to openings Form Lift shaft pit The painting to the external hoarding will be completed week commencing 15.01.18 External drainage dig outside the “building boundary line” will continue.
