Begin with the vision of an end product to create a “Need to know” frame of mind
Inquiry to learn and create something new
Critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and communication are required
Fundamentals for PBL
Some element of student voice and choice
Integrates feedback and revision
End result is a publicly presented product or performance
Fundamentals for PBL Continued
Deeper understanding of concepts and standards
Build essential workplace skills and lifelong learning practices
Motivates students who may find school meaningless or boring
Allows students to address various topics like: community issues, career paths, technology, etc.
