MAIN AIM

To be planned and applied concrete and effective measures for a real deinstitutionalisation of children with disabilities, placed in a specialised institutions for children Budget: 4 960 400, 17 BGN. Period: June 2010 – December 2014 (54 months)

Review and analysis of the assessments of children and youngsters from specialised

institutions 2010 assessed 1797 children and youngsters; for each assessed child/ youngster are recommended residential and supported services; assessment of health status and feeding; pilot initiation of the practice“Intensive interaction” and improvement of children’s feeding;

MAIN ACTIVITIES

Research of the wish of the family for a contact with a child

1 217 researches of parents/relatives are provided. Above 47% from parents/ relatives of children/ youngsters declare wish for sustaining a contact and would like child/ youngster to be placed in family type center/ Sheltered home close to the place where the family lives, 14% hesitate.

As a result of the meetings with the parents in the period of the research parents of 90 children, without contacts with them, they looked for their kids.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

Detailed assessment and direction towards concrete place from the Map of

services1482 children and youngsters are directed towards concrete place (target municipality) and residential service. Around 50 % of children/youngsters are directed towards concrete municipality because of the proved wish of their parents and/ or close relatives to have a contact with them.

Supervision of the staff in the specialised institutions

During the period November 2011 – April 2013 in all Homes for children with intellectual disabilities and Home for children with physical disabilities are realized group supervisions and individual sessions under request.
