Executive Summary: A Platform for Imagination.!!Project pen is a United States Limited Liability Partnership born in a coffee shop, in Amman Jordan. We discover, publish & license imaginations.!In May 2014, an initial seed investment by Oasis500 of 26,000 JOD allowed us to transition into a creative-content publisher. The money has been spent effectively; on a new platform on projectpen.com, an Arabic enabled mobile & iPad app, as well as investments in our intellectual property portfolio [Jamila’s Thread, Generations] & the legal contracts that make our eBook, Print & Licensing devisions possible. !Between May 2014 and December 2015 project pen signed contracts worth over 45,000 USD. We’re looking for increased investment and market access in the GCC & USA to build on an emerging technological lead in the MENA region, and expand our content-creation, print publishing and editorial capabilities. !!

John brings an Oxford History degree, a diploma in Law, and

misspent youth to the internet. He lives in a world of books, games,

movies and stories.

Maisa Khudair combines classical Arabic with cutting-edge skills in digital content,

Anyone can login, and “upload a story” in Arabic and English.We distribute stories and eBooks on an Al Bawaba Syndigate, project pen Apple iBooks, Kindle Direct Publishing and the project pen Arabic enabled app, created in partnership with Al Faridah Digital Publications. !Project pen can cross-publish on multiple channels, and tailor distribution to certain markets, language preferences and age-demographics. Project Pen Digital: Content!!Every day project pen publishes an original fiction story in English and Arabic. In addition, we blog about creative ideas, projects and individuals on the newly created project pen blog in English and Arabic. !Due to successful online Synidication, project pen blog currently accounts for 30% of traffic to the platform.

Project Pen Digital: Audience Analytics !Optimised Google Analytics allows us to break down reader behavior by age, location, as well as story themes such as “Love”, “Journey Stories”, “Fantasy” and “Self-Discovery”. !This data informs what we publish, and provides valuable insights into the wider entertainment market in MENA.

Project Pen Digital: Engagement!!Project pen has crowd-sourced the world’s first multi-lingual collection of twitter stories, and the world’s first multi-lingual collection of Instagram Stories !Our audience do more than read. They create content, interact, and network with each other in new ways. This brand engagement has caught the attention of some of the largest corporations in Jordan.

Project Pen Books: “Jamila’s Thread & Other Stories”!!Remember those stories, you grew up with? “Jamila’s Thread & Other Stories” with return classical storytelling to modern audiences in the Middle East, in Arabic & English.

!Project Pen Analytics demonstrates that “Stories of Fantasy” are the second most popular theme, after “Love”, for our audience. We also identified a market gap, when it came to original “folk stories” from the MENA region, especially in Arabic. Using this data we leveraged our Storylabs offline network to source the stories from the oral tradition, and illustrate the cover.

!!!Project Pen Licensing!!This is where we license project pen books to partners in the Film, TV and Animation space. !We own all Subsidiary Rights in the books we publish - including Theme Park, Merchandising, Film, TV, Theater, Animation and Video Game Rights. !We also create intellectual property in-house. An example is “Generations”, a character driven epic set over 100 years in the Middle East. !!

Pricewaterhouse Cooper’s estimates that trade in eBooks will reach $8.2 billion in sales in the US market by 2017, to surpass print sales. !In the USA, our strategy is to begin with eBooks. Here we can produce quality content at a fraction of the time and cost of most US based eBook publishers, publishing directly to iBooks, Kindle & Project Pen Android & iPad App. !

We will expand our content-creation services in Los Angeles, and foster contacts in the Game, TV and Film Industries for project pen licensing.
