us. We are student researchers at UNC Chapel Hill working on a project to assess flood acquisition, or buyout, programs in Clyde, NC.
SummaryThrough a partnership between David
Salvesen at UNC-CH’s Institute for the Environment and Rebecca Kihslinger at the Environmental Law Institute, this study examines post-flood property acquisition programs in communities in North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Minnesota and Wisconsin as case studies for the effectiveness of buyout programs.

combination of grants by the McKnight Foundation, the New York Community Trust, the Department of Homeland Security and the US EPA.

in the building of a picture of the flooding event that each community has faced and provide on-the-ground expertise and knowledge to supplement our predominantly secondary source and data-based research.
