Kansas City’s economy is recognized as one of the most diverse among

the Employers Nation’s mid-sized cities with no one sector comprising

more than 15% of the overall economy. The largest employers in

Kansas City are entities of the local, state and federal government

which constitute 14.7% of local employment.

Closely following are the professional and business services firms and

the education and health services companies with 14.2% and 11.5%,

respectively, of Kansas City employment. Leisure and hospitality
