Activity 1: Let’s Have Fun with Origami
Purpose:To practice reading comprehension (procedures)
Level : Pratom 4-6
Number of participants: 15-20
Length of time : 30 minutes
Materials or things needed: origami vocabulary worksheet, origami
flashcards (instruction cards and origami picture cards), origami papers.
Procedure or how to play:
1. Tell students that they are going to learn about how to make easy
origami animals.
2. Preview some vocabularies, e.g. square, triangle, fold, flip, unfold,
top, bottom, corner, angle, to the right, to the left, turn over etc. by
having students do the vocabulary worksheet.
3. Divide students into groups of 5 and let them choose their favorite
animals, e.g. dog, cat, bear, rabbit, or koala.
4. Provide students with origami instruction cards and origami
picture cards. Tell them to read the instructions and arrange them
into the correct steps of making their origami animal then match
them with the pictures.
5. After they finish, tell them to start making their own origami.
6. Students in one group pair up with students in another group and
teach them how to make their origami animals.
