TASTER DAYS

For anyone interested in finding out more about the Iron Mill and the courses we have to offer.

• Open to anyone with an interest in pursuing further training in the counselling professions• Informative, fun and a chance for you to explore the Iron Mill

What is a Taster Day?

If you are new to Iron Mill, or are considering applying for a new course then we encourage you to take part in one of our taster days.

The Taster Day provides an essential introduction to the Iron Mill College and is an integral part of the interview process.

It provides an opportunity for tutors to begin to build a relationship with you and for you to know more about us, who we are and which course would be the right one for you.

The day usually starts with an introductory talk about the ethos of Iron Mill College and a brief discussion about some factors to consider when applying for a course.

The rest of the day is spent in creative group activities which provide an opportunity for you to experience some of the key skills and therapeutic interventions related to counselling, and to explore and experience different ways of working.

For those of you who know which course you want to apply for, the day will end with small group interviews which take the form of a tutor-led open-discussion related to key themes connected with counselling and psychotherapy. In order to be a part of the group interview, an application form will be sent to you prior to the event, which can be completed and returned on the day.

How long does it last?

A Taster Day runs from 9.30 am (registration) to 4.30 pm approx. including the group interview.

What is the cost?

The fee for the Taster Day is £25.00 (including lunch and all refreshments)

Everyone wishing to apply for a course will need to have completed and submitted an application form prior to the group interview (there isn’t much time during the day so completion of the form beforehand is recommended).
