proteins
The smallest molecules of wich they are made: amino acids molecules
Elements they contain: C, H, O, N
Their functions in the body are: making cells, antibodies, enzymes, haemoglobin and providing energy
Some food that contain them are meat, fish, milk, cheese, peas, beans and tofu
Solubility in water: some are soluble and some are insoluble
What are amino acids?•Protein molecules are made of long chains of smaller molecules joined end to end, these smaller molecules are called amino acids
What are the functions of proteins in the body?
• Proteins are not usually used to provide energy, many of the proteins in the food you eat are used for making new cells. New cells are used for growing, and for repairing damaged parts of the body, in particular, cell membrane and cytoplasm contain a lot of protein. Proteins are also needed to make antibodies and produce more haemoglobin.
