Influenza vaccinations

With the upcoming influenza season upon us, we would like to share with you two new practices Mercy Medical Center has implemented.

1. Increase our inpatient vaccination rates.During the 2014-2015 flu season, we vaccinated 92percent of our patients but we think we can do better. There are ways you can help! When patients are seen forpre-operative visits (either by the primary care provider, specialty provider or by the surgeon) please considerarranging for an influenza vaccine prior to admission. This will reduce the number of patients we need toassess and vaccinate during the busy inpatient stay. Inaddition, please be sure vaccinations are given prior topatients being discharged.

2. Enhance our employee vaccination policy by makingcertain vaccines, including influenza, mandatory except formedical exemptions. We would appreciate your help encouraging staff to bevaccinated and to lead by example by getting vaccinatedyourself. Vaccination will again be provided by Mercy. Please watch for upcoming announcements on dates, times and locations.

Thank you for your support of these initiatives.
